One of the NEAREST ACCOMODATION bordering the ABEL TASMAN NATIONAL PARK, remotely nestled on a forested hill, offering OUTSTANDING SEA VIEWS and RARE TOTAL PRIVACY amongst the WILDERNESS. Built from onsite clay and crafted by ourselves, Totos Bush Cottage has an open setting perfect for those wanting to reconnect with nature with outdoor kitchen, toilets and an exceptional OUTSIDE BATH, perfect for STARGAZING. COSY and ROMANTIC, it is the perfect ESCAPE to UNWIND for NATURE SEEKERS The space Totos Bush Cottage is an earth building perfect for guests seeking a privacy rarely found elsewhere, and a deeper connection with the wilderness than if they were in a fully contained house, while still keeping it very cosy. Even though the cottage is only several minutes walk from our little café (Totos café-pizzeria), it is a very private and peaceful place, perfect to unwind in the middle of nature with awesome views. It is located on a hillside amongst the native bush that is home to a variety of native birds, like the reclusive south island Tomtit, Bellbirds, Wekas, grey warbler, etc. Werther you wish to recline under the shade of a tree fern and let nature massage your worries away, visit some of the many delights the Northern Abel Tasman National park bordering the property, the choice is all yours, it is a place where comfort meets paradise ! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY - The main building is a 10m² bedroom and small lounge area offering exceptional views of beautiful Wainui bay and the sea beyond, all while surrounded by pristine nature. - It is very well insulated and the earth walls keep well the warmth. There is also a little heater for more comfort during the colder months. The simple outside kitchen has all what you need to cook: - a stove top, - little bar fridge - coffee plunger & co - a gas barbecue! - There is no oven nor microwave - The shower cabin and the composting toilets are detached, not directly attached to the bedroom, about a dozen meters away. - EXCEPTIONAL OUTSIDE BATH with hot water from which one can take in the stunning views or the amazing night sky - TOTALLY OFF-GRID : all the power is generated thanks to green energy:a Micro Hydro and solar panels - NO WIFI here, but you will find a BETTER CONNECTION :) - Keep in mind that there is a 2 minutes walk up to the cottage from the car park, on a unsealed earth path. - DOGS OWNERS: Thank you to let us know if you bring a dog and make sure you read and agree to the dog policy and fee in the house rules. BEACH ACCESS: The property is situated on the top of a hill, near from 2 of Abel Tasman beaches: - Wainui Bay, 10 min drive on the West side / 10min drive + 10 min walk on the East side. - Totaranui beach on the Abel Tasman is around 25min drive - around 2-3h walk on the inland track from Pigeon saddle to Totaranui - further there are also Tata beach (20min drive), Pohara (25min drive) - Some river bathing at the beautiful Wainui river just down the hill: the carpark for the Wainui waterfall walk along the river is at 5min drive, around 1h30 walk on the gravel road. BEAUTIFUL WALKS AROUND: they are described in our guide book LOCATION: - on the top of the hill overlooking Wainui Bay and beyond in Golden bay - 2h20 drive from Nelson - 35 min drive from Takaka, the main town in Golden bay - nearest shop + restaurants: Pohara, 25 min drive Guest access Please keep in mind that the cottage is situated on a hillside and there is a two minutes walk up the hill from the car park to the cottage, on an unsealed earth and gravel path, where you will have to carry your luggage. Other things to note - DOGS OWNERS: Thank you to let us know if you bring a dog and make sure you read and agree to the dog policy and fee in the house rules. - No Wifi here, but you will find a better connection :) - The cottage is situated at few minutes walk from our little Totos café Pizzeria below - don't forget to stock up on groceries before coming ( there isn't any shop around as it is in the wilderness) and to check the cafe opening hours if you're interested -Cellphone coverage depends mostly on which company your are using: for example, Vodafone and 2degrees usually works well, even if it's not 100% guaranteed.
