Other things to note The building: Casa Gentili is a typical 'casa da cittadino' dating back to the XVIth century, used at that time by the landowner who normally lived in town to manage the farm hands working in the country. Designed as a place to work, despite the prestigious façade, it is characterized by its plainness that distinguishes it from other neighbouring villas around Pisa and Lucca, the main goal being to offer pleasure to people spending time there. Ranieri Gentili bought it in 1911, settling his family there and starting up the company named 'Pastificio Gentili' , among the first to produce industrially made pasta.
