The Lerderderg Chalet or Blackwood

De Lerderderg is a hand crafted mud brick chalet located in the old gold rush town of Blackwood. With an open plan layout , a mezzanine , and three bedrooms , it’s perfect for for singles, couples , families and groups . The property also offers guests a sauna , a spa , and wonderful yard and gardens. Nestled between the Lerderderg State Park and the Wombat State Forest , the property has a wonderful bush aspect and is frequented by many gorgeous bird species as well as kangaroos and wombats. Nestled between the Lerderderg State Park and Wombat State Forest De Lerderderg Chalet offers guests a unique experience to relax and unwind. The rustic Chalet boasts, unique mud brick walls with lead light widows and exposed timber beams. An open plan kitchen and living room with log burning fireplace. Guests have the choice of 3 bedrooms plus an upstairs open plan mezzanine offering views over the space. The rustic country style kitchen is fully equipped with a dining table for 8 and additional barstools at bench. The north-west facing garden receives plenty of sun throughout the day in winter and has lots of shady trees for relaxing outdoors in summer time . The house comfortably sleeps 8 guests .The main room has a queen size bed , the mezzanine and downstairs room have doubles and the other room 2 singles .All beds made up with Hotel quality linen and bedding. (8 guests in total) The bathroom has a shower/ bath with separate toilet , note the bath is square.. not a recliner bath. Also freshly laundered towels are supplied for guests. Equipped kitchen comprising of chinaware, cookware, cutlery and glasses . As well as an oven/hob, microwave, refrigerator, juicer , blender , stovetop coffee maker and plunger , ironing board and iron. There’s a gas bbq outside as well. The open plan lounge room has a Flat screen TV , receiving free to air signal and it’s also equipped for a phone /computer link(via HDMI cable), as well as USB input and there’s also a DVD player with plenty of DVDs . There’s a 70’s stereo too comprised of a turntable , a weighted dial amplifier and classic clotted wool faced speakers . There’s a small selection of vinyl for guests use . There are board games and books , as well as a kids toy box upstairs. The Sauna and spa are available for guests to respectfully enjoy. Guest access Guests have the entire property to themselves. Other things to note Guests have the use of a wonderfully aromatic red cedar sauna (can accomodate 8 ) , and a two person spa, both housed in their own stand alone mud brick grotto . There is garden furniture under the eve at the back of the house and a permanent outdoor setting with 3m umbrella for guests use as well . House rules for the sauna and spa are in our house book. As we do not charge guests an additional cleaning fee, we request the chalet be left tidy and the kitchen and oven/hob be clean. We are pet friendly and welcome well behaved, house trained, non destructive pets. It is the guests responsibility to thoroughly remove all pet hair from the Chalet( Vacuum in the downstairs room cupboard) .Also , as the lawn areas are used for recreation and outdoor dining we require that all pet faeces be removed, bagged and binned. Wi-Fi : we have wi-fi through a Telstra “Dongle”. Free wi-fi is also offered at the post office.
