Located in Kandy, 1.7 km from Sri Dalada Maligawa, Mount Glimpse Kandy features a glamorous mountain view and a garden. All 4 rooms are equipped with air-condition facility. There is a separate driver's room available with two single beds. This room is not allocated for guests. Other things to note Sri Dalada Maligawa Sri Dalada Maligawa (temple of the sacred tooth relic) is a Buddhist monastery which is located in Kandy. it is located in the former Royal palace of the kingdom of Kandy. The present palace has been built by the king Veera Narendra Sinha. since ancient times relic has an important role in local politics. Because it is believed that whoever holds the relic, was the governor of the country. Kandy is a world heritage city because of the temple of the tooth relic. Hanthana Mountain Range The Hanthana Mountain Range lies in central Sri Lanka, south-west of the city of Kandy. It was declared as an environmental protection area in February 2010 under the National Environment Act. The maximum height of the range is 3800 ft. The mountain range consists of seven peaks. The highest one being the Uura Kanda. The range is a favourite destination among the mountain hikers in Sri Lanka. University of Peradeniya is situated adjacent to the Hanthana mountain range. Udawatta Jungle If you want to visit a historical forest, “Udawattakale” is one of the best places which located in Kandy city . It is about 104 hectares large area. In ancient times, sinhalese called it as “Uda Wasala waththa” (Because this had been owned by the king). But it is more famous as birds sanctuary. It was named as birds sanctuary in 1938 as well as it consists of rare herbs and plants. Now, this sanctuary is maintained by Department of wildlife conservation. If you are entering from the west side of the forest, you can reach there by 20 minutes from the temple of the tooth.
