Description

Our unique stand alone studio is a small, historic, renovated school about 30km north of Dunedin and close to the village of Karitane. The school has everything you need for a warm, comfortable stay. There books and games for your use. We live in a repurposed sheep shearing shed nearby and both buildings are surrounded by extensive gardens and plantings. There are panoramic views of the very picturesque coast line and out to sea. It is very peaceful and private. The space The school/studio has been set up for easy access with the main entrance having a ramp up to it. There is a very comfortable queen bed. There is a a small kitchenette to allow basic food preparation with a double electric hob and a small bench top oven. The bathroom has an easy access toilet and a great shower. There is a log burner and sufficient wood available for a cold evening, otherwise electric heaters are available. If you are looking for a stay in a warm, tasteful, private and peaceful place with lovely views, then contact us. Guest access There is space for parking outside the main entrance. There is a private deck and part of the garden offering places to sit outside to admire the view. We currently don't allow access to the rest of our property. It is a short walk down a walkway beside the road to the beach and the village. Karitane Beach is known for it's surfing while the Waikouaiti Estuary is great for paddle boarding and the like. Other things to note Karitane has a rich Maori and early European history and there are numerous walks close, by including beaches and around the spectacular Huriawa Penisula . It is a great base for bird watching and to explore the wider Otago area from. Or just relaxing, surfing, writing, painting or thinking.
