The house is surrounded by nature, so during the summer, you may encounter mosquitoes and the occasional insect or bug. Rest assured, none of them are dangerous, and I will provide products to help you manage them during your stay. Istria can get very hot and dry during the summer, which is perfect for swimming and enjoying the beaches. However, because of the heat, the grass and some plants around the area might be a bit dry. Both the west and east coast towns, as well as the southern part of the peninsula, are just a 20 to 40-minute drive away. Only 5 km from Villa Oliva is the charming hilltop town of Motovun, known for its rich history, stunning views, and the famous Motovun forest with its prized truffles. Each summer, Motovun hosts a popular Movie Festival, attracting visitors for films, food, and lively nightlife. Pazin, 15 km away, is the administrative center of Istria and home to the historic Pazin Castle and the beautiful Zarecki Krov waterfall, a perfect spot to cool off in summer. A 20 km drive will take you to Groznjan, a picturesque town with art galleries, great wine, and the "Jazz is Back" festival in mid-summer. For coastal beauty, Porec is also 20 km away, offering UNESCO-listed heritage sites, pristine beaches, and vibrant nightlife.
