B&B Nishikien Showa-era Tatami Room 10 Tatami Mats 101 Washitsu
Description
In the 1920s and 1930s, Otaru, as the largest port in Hokkaido, replaced Hakodate as the commercial and financial center of Hokkaido. Shuji was the busiest area in Otaru at the time, with various banks and pawnshops. 120 years ago, a pawnshop was built in the location of the current Jinyuan Homestay. Its two stone warehouses are still in the Jinyuan courtyard, and the lights of the Taisho period are still intact in the warehouse. Sixty years ago, the former owner of the B&B took over the pawnshop and built this house outside the stone warehouse. At the end of 2017, we took over Kinyuan and retained its original rustic appearance, including the Showa-style Japanese room and the Japanese-style courtyard that has been carefully maintained for more than 60 years. This room is located on the first floor with an area of 25 square meters. It is a Japanese-style tatami room with a private bathroom and washbasin. The bathroom is shared. The furniture in the room is a hundred years old. It is a typical Japanese traditional building. The room has floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Outside the window is a Japanese-style courtyard that has been maintained for 60 years. In spring, various precious trees and flowers begin to bloom. The pine trees in the courtyard have grown for 180 years! A 15-minute walk to the Tategami Park. It is a beautiful and unforgettable place to visit in spring, summer, and autumn! 10 min walk to local fishing spot, we have fishing gear and grill, 5 min walk to morning market and 24 hour supermarket. There are several direct buses at the bus stop 3 of Otaru Station, which can be reached in just 10 minutes. It is only 15 minutes on foot to the canal.
