Kingfisher Pod: Scenic Glamping at Milemead Lakes

Kingfisher Pod at Milemead is ideal for those looking to get away from it all. It is located in a tranquil, west-facing spot surrounded by wildlife, directly overlooking a picturesque lake. Milemead is a coarse fishery, and fishing is available to guests. We are located 2 miles from the historic town of Tavistock, 3 miles from spectacular Dartmoor and from popular mountain bike trails, making this a great destination for walkers, runners and cyclists. Guest access The pod has its own private fishing pegs on the Canal Basin lake and fishing from these pegs is included in the booking price If you would like to fish any of our other lakes (subject to availability) you must purchase a permit from our shop. Please note that if you wanted to fish you would need your own fishing tackle. Further details on our lakes can be found on the Milemead Lakes website We are happy to welcome 1 well behaved dog but please ensure that for safety it is on a lead or with you at all times. Any additional animals must be by pre approval only and may incur an additional fee. Please do not exercise dogs around the lakes outside of the pod’s private area as this could disturb anglers. Please take notice of and obey Private and No Access signs. Thank you Other things to note The pod has two very comfortable handmade single beds which can be joined together to make a double bed. Please specify your preference when you book please. Please note that we do not provide bedding, pillows or towels unless requested at the time of booking. Towels and single or double bedding (including pillows and duvet) are available for £10 or you are welcome to bring your own with you. The pod has its own firepit which also has a BBQ grid on it for guests to use. Disposable BBQs can also be placed on this if you wish, to avoid damaging the decking or grass. We can provide a basket of logs (inc kindling) at an additional cost of £5 each, or guests are welcome to bring their own. Please let us know which extras you would like when booking. Payment for these is via a separate invoice on Airbnb, raised when guests confirm. Additional supplies can be purchased during your stay. There are shower and toilet facilities on site. These are shared with our anglers and are approximately 50 metres from the pod. The shower is coin operated, and costs £1 for 10 minutes. You will however find a couple of coins in the pod, to save hunting for coins on your arrival! We provide a 1.5 litre bottle of mineral water. Fresh drinking water is available from the outside tap next to the ladies’ toilet. This comes from our own well and is treated with ultraviolet light rather than chemicals. There is a separate washroom next to the shower for cleaning dishes etc. This has a sink with hot and cold running water and is equipped with washing up liquid and a cloth or sponge. Please be aware that the pod is situated only 12 metres from the edge of an unfenced lake. Our lakes have areas of deep water. Please respect the other guests of the fishery and keep noise to a minimum.
