Lotus Studio in Skandavan's garden, Edayanchavadi.

This is a large self-standing, studio-bedroom with a dome shaped roof and excellent natural ventilation on all four sides. Set in a beautiful garden with a large fish pond, it provides a tranquil, rejuvenating getaway from busy city life. A private place to spend quality time with family and friends. (Free for accompanying child under 10 years.) Skandavan's micro climate is always a few degrees cooler than Pondicherry. The space The Lotus Studio is located in a 2-acre property with mature trees and a large central fish pond. It is a self-standing structure surrounded by greenery, has a dome shaped roof, is naturally cool and ventilated on all four sides. The Studio has a queen-sized double bed and a long window ledge which can accommodate a third bed (no extra charge for children under 5 years of age). There is an attached bathroom, courtyard-style and totally private, with a shower and a hot geyser. It also has its own private outdoor area with a table and seating. Some restaurants in the vicinity will home deliver and the Botanical Garden nearby serves organic lunches under the trees on all working days. We provide a limited breakfast menu between 8.30 and 9.30 am. Our staff is always on the premises to assist you if require take-away food to be ordered in. Please note: Skandavan is located in the green belt that has formed around Auroville. Our accommodation is protected against bugs and wildlife with mesh panels to ensure you can enjoy the its lush vegetation while being comfortable indoors. However, it is not possible to guarantee that no bug or lizard will ever enter through your entrance door if left open accidentally, especially if there has been rain. If you have sensitivities about such possible intrusions, we would advise you book a property in town with airconditioned rooms and sealed windows. Guest access We live and work on the premises. While there is plenty of space for guests to enjoy the garden, some areas are private. One-on-one yoga classes and consultation on your existing practice, is available in my home dance studio on request. Other things to note Check in on the day of your arrival anytime after 12.00 hours. Please avoid arriving after dark the first time you come as roads here are not signposted. Breakfast the next day is included with the night's booking but please let us know on arrival if you want this. It will be provided in the Dancers' Cottage after 8.00am. Please help yourself. The kitchen has drinking water and is a shared facility you are welcome to use with a fridge, toaster, gas and electric kettle. We will will wash up at 10.30am. If you are self-catering for other meals please wash up afterwards. Remember not to leave food open or utensils unwashed as it will invite squirrels, ants and other wildlife. Please note that if you are arriving on an early morning train/bus and want breakfast on the day of arrival, let us know in advance. This can be organised but will be charged separately. Please check out by 10.30 am on day of departure. If you require the room for longer, please let us know in advance. If we have no other booking that day, we can be flexible with this timing. For discounted bookings (stays over a week where you are self catering) we will not be providing breakfast but can assist with fresh milk delivery. Whenever there is garden surplus of fruits etc., this is available for you. Wi-fi is available for guests around the Dancers Cottage and Platform. If you need an ashtray, let us know and please smoke in the garden and not indoors. (Thanks!) Please dry your laundry only on designated washing lines and racks. We would be very grateful if you would help conserve energy by switching off electric lights when not in use. If you would like to use the Dancer's Cottage platform or any garden space for a private event/workshop, please discuss full details in advance. Lastly, as per Govt. of India rules, all non-Indian nationals are requested to bring photocopies of their travel documents (passport & visa) for our records.
