Wai-iti Retreat.

In the heart of the quaint seaside village of Punakaiki sits Wai-iti Retreat. Designed as a romantic haven, Wai-iti Retreat exudes creative eclectic charm, stimulating your senses, yet soothing your soul. The space Nau mai, haere mai. Unique to Aotearoa New Zealand, baches (pronounced batches) are an iconic part of Kiwi culture. Waiiti Retreat is our reimagined Kiwi Bach, representing a cherished part of our identity, symbolising simple pleasures, time together and a connection to nature. Enveloped in a new shell, the interior is a reflection of the original, incorporating repurposed, upcycled and bespoke elements, designed and built by your host. This stand alone 36 square metre studio style unit has a queen bed, dressed with quality cotton sheets, duvet, an electric blanket and extra blankets. The ensuite bathroom is quirky and a reflection of your hosts creative flair. There are plenty of fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. In the kitchenette you will find an induction twin hob, bench top smart oven, an electric kettle, toaster, tea/coffee (French Press), fridge/freezer, an electric frying pan, pots and pans, crockery/cutlery, glassware and an ice bucket. Adjoining the kitchenette is a dining table for two. In the lounge are two luxurious leather chairs for your relaxation, a sound system with Bluetooth connectivity and fibre internet. Stepping outside, you can soothe your soul in the bath while gazing in awe at the towering limestone cliffs or the magnificence of Punakaiki’s night sky. Snuggle by the warmth of the driftwood fire before being serenaded by the waves crashing on the beach, as you tuck into bed. Wake in the morning to bird song and the fresh invigorating smell of West Coast rainforest. Taste the salt on your lips as you search the beach for natures “treasure”. Take a refreshing dip in the lagoon or simply explore the natural wonders of the Paparoa National Park. Guest access Adjacent to the Studio unit is a private outdoor bath and the entertaining arena which incorporates the fire pit and BBQ. Guests will enjoy total access to these amenities although all bonfires will be supervised (your safety is my priority). N.B 24hr advanced notice is required for a bonfire and are conditional upon weather conditions. Other things to note I do live on the property which enables me to assist you with any of your concerns. The interaction with me is entirely up to you. If it’s privacy you require, I’ll make myself scarce but if you’re looking to connect will the community, I’m sure you’ll find me a most interesting character.
