Description
This is a rare opportunity to spend a weekend in a freshly-renovated hundred-year-old Chum Creek Post Office situated on five acres of bushland and garden. Enjoy a quiet time away from the noisy city; visit local wineries or fantastic Four Pillars Gin Distillery; taste local food in Healesville and surrounds; take a stroll in the bushland; or have a chat with the owners - Beata and Kristof (whom you might recognise from some well-known Australian TV shows). Just relax and enjoy the nature! The space This property has a significant value in the local history, as it served as a Post Office for over 50 years until 70s. It was built in c. 1926 and it has the charm of an old chalet. It has just undergone a renovation, so you can experience a combination of new and old. The ground floor apartment reminds of the old times with its country feel and some rustic furniture. An account of the past can be found on the walls - a rare find of 1932 newspapers, and in old photographs. The apartment is self-contained, but it is an integral part of our household. The dining room opens directly to the garden with many quiet corners to enjoy a picnic or me-time. There are three small ponds, 2 acres of bush to stroll around or do a bit of workout, garden and paddock with some farm animals - chicken, a peacock, a goat and a horse that will beg you for an apple.
