Byron Bay Hinterland, Possum Creek, Jimba Cottage

A peaceful retreat at Possum Creek Set atop of Coolamon ridge with the most amazing views,Jimba offers eco-friendly living with all the homely comforts of a cottage. Recently renovated, Jimba has 2 b’rooms, 1 bathroom,full kitchen, indoor/outdoor living areas,& been fitted with all the essentials.Tucked away, yet on the doorstep of all Byron Bay has to offer, this cottage is also home to some of most amazing native wildlife, Owls, Kookaburras, Black Cockatoo’s & Koalas,to name a few. The space Nestled under the most magnificent Poinciana tree, Jimba boasts lots of natural light & is perfectly positioned to catch the Hinterland’s sunsets & sunrises. Brew yourself a coffee , then sit at the dining room table and watch the sun come up over the ridge. Prepare a meal in the full kitchen after spending the day exploring the Hinterland and nearby beaches. Or better still, fire up the Weber BBQ and watch the sun set through the old gums. Jimba has a large outdoor/undercover living area, complete with table and chairs and huge comfy lounge. LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION. Jimba is located 15-20 minutes drive or Uber ride west of Byron Bay, giving you easy access to the beaches and Hinterland, but also the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle. Guest access Guests have full access to the grounds surrounding Jimba Cottage. The front area has large rolling lawns. There’s also a fenced area at the rear of the property. Other things to note ATTENTION GUESTS: IMPORTANT INFORMATION The fireplace is a special feature of the cottage as we enter the cooler months of the year. It is one of very few places in the area that have this feature, adding a ‘cozy’ element to your magical experience. There is a minimum ‘5 NIGHT STAY’ during the school holiday periods. In particular the Dec-Jan holiday period. During long weekends I’ll only book the place out for the duration of the weekend. Bookings with children must request to book. There is an additional cleaning fee seperate to the final clean that is included in the booking. For long term guests (1 week plus), there will be an extra cleaning weekly fee to be discussed with guest and host. Long term guests are required to seek further approval from the host before confirming their stay. What does Jimba mean? Jimba is an Indigenous word meaning 'laughing star', used to describe the owl.. Owls are very prominent in the area, along with another species of bird that we associate more with laughter, the Kookaburra. At the beginning and end of each day, a posse of Kookaburras can be heard calling out to each other in the old gums. And as the night draws darker, you’ll find yourself positioned right under the Milky Way and of the most amazing star gazing experiences you’d ever hoped to see. We are on rain-water, however in the case of a drought, the tanks are filled with town water. New Triple filtered, UV protected water systems have been installed. Telstra, Australia’s largest Tele-communication company, is the best source in this region. PLEASE NOTE :being in country NSW, we do have spiders, snakes insects, bull ants & toads in the area..they live here too, & have been here way longer than us.
