Get away from it all and relax in a beautiful off-grid Eco Cottage on 38 acres. Experience the peace and restorative effects of a unique and ecologically sustainable natural environment. Two distinct cottages make up the one residence at 'Uralba Eco Cottages'. One is occupied by your hosts, the other 'Kookaburra Cottage' is for the exclusive use of guests. Both cottages are separated by a breezeway, but each living space is designed to ensure the total privacy of its occupants. The space With separate car parking and a disability access ramp, Kookaburra Cottage comprises one bedroom with queen bed, private bathroom, open-plan living area with lounge, dining area, and a large private verandah overlooking beautiful gardens. The verandah has its own vertical garden room and a calming water feature. The cottage is self-catering; with private BBQ, a gas oven and stove, fridge and kitchenette stocked with everything you will need such as crockery, cutlery, locally sourced tea and coffee etc. (Please note there is NO microwave). Towels, pillows, luxury linen and environmentally friendly bathroom supplies are provided, along with many added extras to make your stay with us all that more comfortable. The cottages run on 240v solar power entirely off-grid. Filtered rainwater is gravity-fed to the cottages. Our Worm Waste Management system provides an environmentally sustainable solution for wastewater, sewerage and organic waste. The buildings were designed to maximise airflow and comfort while reducing the carbon footprint. Much of the timber used in construction of the cottages has been sourced directly from the property and/or recycled materials. We use renewable and recyclable local products where possible, provide recycling bins and compost all food waste on site. The extensive garden’s general design principles are based on permaculture and agroforestry, and all the gardens are chemical free. Our regenerated Land for Wildlife property is also located in a Koala habitat corridor. There are plenty of things to do at Uralba. Relax on one of the comfy couches or in the hammock with a book, why not play a board game in the garden or become creative with some artwork? Enjoy the birds (over 100 documented species), butterflies, frogs and a variety of native animals such as wallabies, koalas and goannas. Guest access Wander freely around the properly and taste tropical fruit, nuts and Australian bush-tucker foods or forage through the herb and vegetable gardens. There is a small organic herb garden for our guests. You can take in beautiful views of World Heritage listed Border Ranges which can be seen on various walks (designed for all fitness levels). More energetic guests might like to take a guided walk to the rainforest/creek in the gully and enjoy the serenity of the sub-tropical rainforest canopy. OR You may prefer to do nothing much at all..... Other things to note We were the first accommodation provider in Northern NSW to obtain Advanced Ecotourism Certification in December 2018.
