Wren House - Surf Coast Hinterland Getaway

BOOK NOW FOR SEPTEMBER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - KIDS and PET FRIENDLY This gorgeous mud brick home is located in the Surf Coast hinterland at the start of the Anglesea River and Otway Ranges. Set high on rolling hills it offers peace, tranquility and a chance to relax and enjoy the gardens, orchard, vegetable garden, chicken coop and pizza oven. You can chill out at home or use the property as a base to explore the amazing surrounds of the Surf Coast, the Great Ocean Road, the Otways and Geelong. The space When you hire Wren you will have exclusive use of the 26 acre property and house. The house has a maximum capacity of 8 people. This unique hand made mud brick home is set on the top of the property. It has a open plan light filled, north facing living, dining and kitchen. It overlooks rolling hills towards the Otway National Park with cosy open fire. The dining room accommodates eight comfortably or four can sit at the bench for breakfast or to chat with those cooking in the kitchen. The kitchen has a ILVE oven, gas stove top, classic kelvinator fridge, espresso coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, slow cooker, rice cooker, wok and soda stream. The kitchen is stocked with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper, tea and coffee. Enjoy your meals and drinks inside or outside in the courtyard or on the deck. A small package of local milk, bread and our eggs will be left for guest staying longer than two nights. Our house can comfortably accommodate 8 guests. We have four bedrooms with 6 beds, including two queen beds, two king singles, a single bed and trundle. The fourth bedroom can be made up as a bedroom (sleeping two), as a study or simply used as a second lounge/tv room. All beds are made with hotel quality pillows, luscious Actil First Line Cotton sheets (with a muslin weave) and Bed Threads Flax Linen covers for the ultimate sleep. We have two bathrooms, one large main bathroom with a shower and bath and an ensuite to the main bedroom, which has a shower and separate toilet. There is a laundry with washing machine and dryer. It also contains a cupboard with beach towels for your use. Our property is a farm stay in the making. For now, we only have 9 chickens on site. They will be tendered to by our property manager but you are welcome to check for eggs each day and enjoy as many as you like. Please let us know if you don't want to check for the eggs as we will arrange for this to be done by our manager. Wren is suitable for kids of all ages. We have a cot, high chair and kids table. We also have two extra trundle beds that can be made up on request ($50 per night additional cost). We have plenty of kids toys inside including, puzzles, books, building blocks, cars and games. Outside we have a raised cubby, sand pit, slide, trampoline and swing set. In the garage you will find some bikes (for big kids), various bats and balls for an impromptu game of football or cricket, boule set, table tennis table, darts and some gym weights if you are keen to keep yourself shape. Pets are welcome, please note that we don't have enclosed fences to keep your pets completely safe. Please don't let your pets on the beds and couches. Please note that there is a bit of equipment that is used to keep a property such as this in good working order. We ask that you kindly stay out of the sheds for your own safety and off any machinery that you may notice about the property. There is a separate self contained studio/bungalow on site (to the south of the main house). This is a private dwelling and will not be occupied during your stay. Please respect this space and do not attempt to enter this premises. PRICES - Our base price accommodates up to 4 people, for use of the specified beds in the main bedrooms. For additional people, there is an fee of $50 per person per night. PLEASE NOTE that our base price will vary depending on season (for school holidays) and day of the week. You can enjoy the views and rural tranquility at our property and relax and cosy up in front of the wood fire. We have a large deck overlooking a picturesque dam and the head of the Anglesea river. There are frequently kangaroos in the paddocks and we are visited by many wonderful Australian birds including, Kookaburra's, Parrots and Wrens. Walk through the vegetable garden and orchard and help yourself to the season's produce. Go for a run, hang out in the games room or simply do nothing. Beyond the property, guests can visit the local wineries, berry farms, surf coast beaches, go for a walk or ride in the national park. Other things to note Our space is an older style home. The living area has wonderful large windows which are fabulous for the light they provide and especially the northern winter sun. But it does expose the house to the extremes of weather temperatures. Please be aware that to keep the living area warm in the evenings it is essential to draw the daggy blinds to keep the heat from the wood fire from escaping. Good vibes only. This is not a hotel. It is our home that we love and joyfully share with others.
