Solano is a bright, waterside property with a large roof terrace garden, overlooking Penryn River in Falmouth. The views across to Sailor’s Creeks and up-river to Penryn are spectacular. Please be aware there are local building works on North Parade, there may be noise or disruption during your stay. We are doing our utmost to ensure that this is kept to a minimum. Convivial open plan living, with a comfortable seating area, dining space and kitchen area. The seating area consists of two double sofas and bean bags. There is a large TV, portable speaker, range of board games and binoculars. The balcony overlooks the tidal waters, the marina, the Penryn river and the woods of the Enys estate. There is a large gas BBQ on the balcony at your disposal. The roof garden terrace is a further open air large amenity area with tables , chairs and sun loungers available to enjoy the wide vistas. It is an ideal yoga practice area, two yoga mats are provided. The roof garden is reached by steps , with rustic limestone pavement to match the balcony. The patio space by the front door has a table and chairs whilst the adjacent side garden has another two chairs overlooking the water. Parking is available for two cars alongside the garage, with turning space. There is a large deck area behind the garage for storing bikes, SUPs, sports equipment etc. (these items are not permitted inside the property please.) Items requiring secure storage can usually be accommodated inside the garage upon request. There is a utility room with washing machine, large freezer and additional sink and surface space. There are building works at the top of the driveway with a completed extension , access is normal. The next door site is being developed, with daily activity; the site clearance is complete. The building started in August 2022 with possible noise and dust during working hours 08:00 until 17:00. There is a responsive liaison with the developer, as reported in feedback. Please be aware. Solano sits perched on the tidal waters edge with open quay below , water is shallow at high tide (access at your own risk). There is an adjacent pebble beach garden with apple trees, shrubs, seasonal wild strawberries and a seating area. Steps x 4 down from parking to solano, and further steps up to roof terrace and down to the quay. Note Pavement is uneven rustic and care should be taken close to the water. Public boat launching is close by at Falmouth water sports quay and slipway with the Lookout restaurant adjacent. we are happy to help with any issues, worries or advice; usually available , but a long arms length from your accommodation. Falmouth is a port with many ferries, boat trips, countless cafes, restaurants, public houses, several beaches, beach cafes, watersports, and a vibrant social life, served by the Polytechnic, Princess Pavillion, cinema, and shared resources with the University campus at Tremough. Falmouth is well served by public buses, trains, connecting to the greater County of Cornwall and to London. Its a level walk into town, or round the river via Penryn to Flushing village, thence Mylor harbour and church with a choice of cafes, pubs or good food restaurants. buses connect to the Helford river, for Trebah or Glendurgan gardens; with the option of walking the coastal path back to the Falmouth beaches at Maenporth, swanpool, gyllyingvase , and Castle beach at Pendennis Castle. Day return rail trips to Looe , the Eden project, and St Ives branch lines are possible from Falmouth or Penryn stations. A car is useful for more distant destinations such as the Minac theatre, Porthcurnow, porthleven, Perranuthnoe, perrenporth, or St Agnes. Taxis to/from Newquay’s airport are bookable when buses do not fit with flights. Sun reflecting off the water should not be underestimated, sun block and glasses are worth packing. Water sports abound locally, you might want to prebook or just roll up on the day? The best time for Minack theatre is the matinee performance. The fully tiled floors should be respected, please leave shoes and beach sand outside, and consider using inside slippers . A shoe rack and mat are placed at front door to help. Sand should be washed off at the hose pipe at the top of the drive please.
