Falmouth is a port with many ferries, boat trips, countless cafes, restaurants, public houses, several beaches, beach cafes, watersports, and a vibrant social life, served by the Polytechnic, Princess Pavillion, cinema, and shared resources with the University campus at Tremough. Falmouth is well served by public buses, trains, connecting to the greater County of Cornwall and to London. Its a level walk into town, or round the river via Penryn to Flushing village, thence Mylor harbour and church with a choice of cafes, pubs or good food restaurants. buses connect to the Helford river, for Trebah or Glendurgan gardens; with the option of walking the coastal path back to the Falmouth beaches at Maenporth, swanpool, gyllyingvase , and Castle beach at Pendennis Castle. Day return rail trips to Looe , the Eden project, and St Ives branch lines are possible from Falmouth or Penryn stations. A car is useful for more distant destinations such as the Minac theatre, Porthcurnow, porthleven, Perranuthnoe, perrenporth, or St Agnes. Taxis to/from Newquay’s airport are bookable when buses do not fit with flights. Sun reflecting off the water should not be underestimated, sun block and glasses are worth packing. Water sports abound locally, you might want to prebook or just roll up on the day? The best time for Minack theatre is the matinee performance. The fully tiled floors should be respected, please leave shoes and beach sand outside, and consider using inside slippers . A shoe rack and mat are placed at front door to help. Sand should be washed off at the hose pipe at the top of the drive please.
