Nestled in the heart of the of the ancient and atmospheric medina of Fes, Riad Dar Alexander is a very comfortable and historic exclusive stay five-bedroom full-service property. We have a wonderful team on hand, including house manager Zahrae who takes care of all guest coordination, and Salma and Hasna who prepare fantastic meals using local seasonal ingredients, and look after all cleaning and laundry. The space A haven of peace, the beautiful traditional riad dates back to the 16th century, Riad Dar Alexander is one of only a handful of luxurious exclusive-stay riads in Fes. It is the perfect base for a holiday with friends, a special gathering or as a peaceful refuge to explore the surrounding area. The riad showcases the outstanding craftsmanship of the region; featuring the original mosaic floors, wood ceilings, and hand-carved plasterwork, each room is appointed with hand-crafted furnishings and textiles from the medina. In the traditional riad style, a communal ground floor encompassing the central reception is the hub of the home with an open fire for the winter months. A separate salon is adjacent to the reception, where meals are usually enjoyed, and a dramatic kitchen space and a relaxation room complete the ground floor. Stairs lead to five well appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large ensuite bathroom, and there are two additional large bathrooms with walk-in showers. Additional bedrooms are two further king-size rooms, one double room, and a room with two single beds. There is an additional single bed in one the king-size bedrooms. A large rooftop terrace with stunning views over the medina and the hills beyond provides additional communal and dining space with a separate kitchen, and is a wonderful evening hang out space during the warmer months. Guest access Guests have the whole riad at their disposal. The UNESCO protected medina is pedestrianised and hasn’t changed in thousands of years. Please be prepared to walk up and down cobbled paths and alley ways, so flat shoes are a must! The car parks are on the periphery of the old medina; we can arrange airport or train station pick up and transfer to the nearest car park, where you will be met by our porter, Si Mohamed, who will take your luggage and escort you to the property. Other things to note Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Please note in winter there are two open fires as it can get chilly compared to the gloriously hot weather of the summers. In the summer, there are fans and the roof is opened to allow a breeze to circulate. A tour guide can be organised if you want to do a walking tour through the medina.
