With over 500,000 inhabitants, the Franconian metropolis of Nuremberg is not only Bavaria's second largest city, but is also an important brewery town. Whether it's light, dark, or a real red beer, there's something for everyone's taste. It is best to taste these magnificent beers together with a hearty Franconian snack or the popular Nuremberg Rostbrat sausages with sauerkraut. Nuremberg has produced many artists such as the painter Albrecht Dürer, the poet Hans Sachs and the sculptor Veit Stoß, and the pocket watch and globe were also invented here. Nuremberg has achieved its prosperity through the trade in and production of toys and art objects, and this history can be traced in the Toy Museum. The largest toy fair still takes place here today, as does the world-famous, traditional “Christkindlmarkt”, which attracts thousands of visitors every year.
