Victoria Drummond Tower was built as a Folly Tower in the victorian period in 1858 by William Drummond Delap as part of Monasterboice House & Demesne. The tower is regarded as a folly tower built in remembrance of his late mother. Recently restored into a small habitable dwelling and is now available for rental for selected months of the year. A very unique and enjoyable place to stay with a vast range of local & historical amenities at your disposal. The space Drummond Tower comprises of 4no. floors including a top roof level which guests can enjoy extensive views of the surrounding countryside. The ground floor comprises of a kitchen area with cooking and washing facilities. On the first floor there is a comfortable living room with adequate space to relax and watch TV or read books form the extensive book collection. There are 2no. couches with 1no. being a comfortable double sofa bed. The second floor bedroom is the last of the internal floors which comprises of a queen sized bed with en-suite, shower and washing facilities. One of the great advantages is waking up in the mornings and looking out over the tree tops and the immediate countryside. The top floor level is the external castellated roof terrace. There is 360 degree views of the area and space to enjoy the fine weather. The roof terrace is illuminated so one can access the area during at night to look at the stars Guest access All areas within Drummond Tower are accessible via a cut stone stair core to all floors. (43 steps to the top) There is an outside patio with seating and pathway around part of the building. We have gardens here for you to explore and enjoy . Also there is an outside building where you can store equipment if required. Parking and designated driveway directly to the building served with electronic gates. Once your booking has been confirmed by Airbnb and before your arrival date, they will release specific details in relation to gaining access to the property. These details will comprise of key access codes to the electronic gates and where to get the keys for Drummond Tower. Alternatively, please confirm if you wish to be formally notified either the day before or the morning of your booking by the Host. This communication will be done via the Airbnb messaging service. Guests need to insure that this form of communication is suitable or alternative forms of communication are to be agreed. Please make sure that you have this organised as we do not want to delay your booking in process as last minute requests can sometimes be difficult to communicate. In addition, it is advised to have a mobile phone with you in order to immediately communicate via phone with the Host if an issue arises. Messaging services and email can sometimes be slow to respond. This route is the most effective if you need immediate attention regarding an issue with the tower. If you do not have a mobile phone, please contact the host and let us know. Other things to note Drummond Tower is an old building and many of the features have been retained in order to keep & maintain the aesthetics due to its National Heritage & Protection. Status. Guests should be aware that this is a old conventional building which has limitations regarding heating & space and is adequately designed for 2no. persons but can accommodate up to 4 people. Please confirm if you require separate sleeping arrangements so that we can set this up ? The additional sofa bed will only be provided if its specifically requested on the booking with Airbnb All elements of the property must be safeguarded by each tenant during their stay. Tenants must be aware that due to the circa of the building and the non-conventional forms of construction that the Tower staircore can sometimes suffer from dampness and water leaks in serve weather conditions. Drummond Tower is self catering so it is advised to bring all necessary foods with you which you may require for your stay. There are local shops nearby to facilitate provisions. The kitchen is fully kitted out as a standard domestic kitchen.
