11 Tarskavaig (The Willows), B&B, IV46 8SA -Room 1

Welcome! The Willows Bed & Breakfast has 2 separate rooms available to let - this listing is for 1 of the 2 rooms - if you wish to book both rooms then please check our other listing on AirBnB. BREAKFAST: No cooked breakfast is available, instead we offer a small but varied selection of snacks for you to take away or eat in. The space (Room 1 - this listing) is a spacious modern room with a super-king size bed, a single bed and a compact en-suite shower room attached. This room is on the 1st floor of the building, up a small set of stairs. This is a lovely bright room with a dormer window and 2 velux windows and an outstanding view out to sea towards the Island of Rum. The room has a large smart TV, tea and coffee facilities, and the house offers free fast Wi-Fi. On the upstairs landing is some guest seating around another window, giving an amazing view out to sea towards the Island of Rum. We also have a small dining table, fridge, microwave, and cutlery / crockery here for your convenience. Check in time is generally 5pm-9pm, but if you need earlier, or later we should be able to accommodate, just please request with us when booking. Guest access Guests are allowed access to the upstairs of the house only, although the main access to the house is through the front door on the downstairs level. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE USE OF THE HOUSE KITCHEN IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, SO PLEASE PREPARE ACCORDINGLY. Each room has ample seating and TV / WiFi, also tea and coffee facilities. There is also some seating available on the top landing should guests wish. DOG OWNERS: PLEASE ALWAYS KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEAD WHEN IN AND AROUND THE PROPERTY. WE HAVE 4 CATS LIVING HERE WHOM WE CARE FOR VERY MUCH AND WE INSIST YOU KEEP YOUR DOG SECURE AT ALL TIMES FOR THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF OUR CATS. THANKYOU! During your stay Both my wife and I are more than happy to assist in any way during your stay and can offer advice on locally available activities and attractions. Other things to note Tarskavaig is a small crofting community approximately 7 miles from the A851 main road down a very interesting single track road. Please be aware that the road is not to everyone's taste and a confident driver is required to drive it, it is certainly not for people with a nervous disposition due to the steep gradients and blind corners / summits! The road is not recommended for large vehicles or caravans. There are no shops or any other facilities available in the village with the nearest being around 10 miles away at Armadale which has some small local shops, tea rooms, post office, garage etc. The nearest large settlement is Broadford approximately 20 miles away which offers many more facilities including a 24hr shop and garage. As a result of our remoteness it is advised to pack accordingly otherwise you would likely need to make a 1hr+ round trip to visit Broadford for supplies. Some mobile phones will not work in the village - EE appears to be the only network with access, but it does not work on all phones, but we do have fast Broadband in the house, so communication through that method is excellent. BREAKFAST: We offer a small selection of breakfast snacks for you to take away. You will find this in your room. The breakfast will likely include some of the following items (subject to change), HOME BAKING, fruit juice or water, cereal bar, fruit, biscuits, crisps etc We can offer a laundry service, washing / drying at £10 per load. Please supply the laundry to us by 2000hrs at the very latest as the washing / drying will take around 2hrs to complete. Hot water is available 24hrs, but the central heating operates on a timer system in the morning and evening. In cold weather we will happily turn the heating on outside of the regularly timed operation. The hot water is not unlimited however, so please keep shower times to a minimum to allow other guests a fair share! Your room has a lock - you will find the key in the lock when you check-in. The front door is always open to facilitate contact-less check-in, so no need for a key there. The toilets, shower and bath are connected to a private septic tank system, so please do not throw any materials down the toilet other than toilet paper and human waste. Use bin provided for sanitary products etc. Travel information: From the A87 at Broadford take the A851 junction towards Armadale / Ardvasar. After approximately 14 miles turn right immediately after the ‘Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’ Gaelic College, signposted ‘Achnacloich / Tarskavaig / Tokavaig’. Continue on the single track road for approximately 7 miles and when approaching the village of Tarskavaig, with the Village Hall on the right, take the left turn down the hill in to the village. The Willows is the 3rd house on the right just past a large green shed with a long wooden fence in the front. If arriving via the Mallaig to Armadale ferry: When you have exited the ferry area turn right and continue on (passing the Clan Donald Centre on your left) for approximately 2 miles and turn left at the signpost for ‘Achnacloich / Tarskavaig / Tokavaig’.
