Beautiful Château gîte, pool - Château de Charras

Have you ever dreamed of "Escaping to the château" for a holiday in the beautiful Charente region in South West France? La Petite Orangerie (LPO) is a comfortable self catering house, situated in the beautifully maintained and extensive grounds of the old Château de Charras. It is a 2 bedroom house, tucked away in one corner of the stunning 13 acre site. The space As the name suggests, La Petite Orangerie is part of the original château's orangerie. It has been sympathetically converted into a comfortable 2 bedroom house, ideal for family holidays. The extensive and beautiful grounds are yours to explore; there is a good sized (shared) pool in the old walled garden, carefully protected by a security gate, and a recently refurbished tennis court (racquets and balls available in LPO). There is a table tennis table and children's swings. LPO has a private terrace with BBQ and patio furniture, which catches the afternoon and early evening sun. Sit here and enjoy a relaxing glass of wine while you prepare a BBQ! Inside the house, there is one large, open plan room downstairs combining a recently refitted kitchen area, large dining table with 6 chairs (we also have a high chair), and a comfortable sitting area with tv. Stairs lead up to the 2 good sized bedrooms and family bathroom. The main bedroom has a new King Size bed and new mattress, the second bedroom has a new double bed and one single bed. A baby's cot is also available on request. LPO is fully furnished with everything you need to relax and enjoy your holiday. There are books and children's games in the lounge area, and fast cable wifi throughout the house. Both bedrooms have fans and free standing air con units for those hot summer nights. If you are here in the winter, there is central heating throughout, plus additional underfloor heating downstairs. New curtains and blinds add to the cozy feel of the house. The television has both British and French tv channels available. Please note that we accept HOLIDAY bookings only. No parties or large group gatherings in the house; this is a quiet residential area with several permanent residents. Guest access The Chateau de Charras is a complex of around 18 properties. Some are occupied all year round, many are holiday properties. There is always someone around to talk to if you want, but because the site covers over 13 acres, you can be totally private if you prefer. Guests are welcome to explore the 13 acres of land, picnic in the Orchard, swim in the (seasonal) open air heated pool in the walled garden or play tennis on the recently refurbished tennis court. There is also a table tennis table and additional games equipment in the newly created leisure court next to the tennis court. Equally, just relax any where in the grounds if you would like to and there are benches dotted around. All the grounds are communal and available to everyone. Guests often mix and there are many impromptu BBQs and social evenings. Please note that the pool opens towards the end of May until the end of September. Other things to note Guests are welcome to unload their cars within the château grounds, but we ask that cars are then parked outside the wrought iron gates in the car park at the front of the château. This is for the safety of everyone within the chateau grounds.
