Description
Plough Cottage has been our home for 14 years, nestled in the beautiful Bybrook valley in the village of West Kington. We are 15 minutes north of the city of Bath, 10 minutes from Castle Combe and 10 minutes from Jct 18 of the M4 which takes you to London in 1.5hrs or Bristol in 20 minutes. West Kington is a lovely village, with the Bybrook river running through the 2 valleys dotted with old Cotswold cottages. Our garden is bordered by the stream. The space OUR COTTAGE We completely refurbished the house around 14 years ago, creating a more open plan family home, as well as designing and building a new building for a loft ensuite, office and cinema room. The ground floor has a large open plan kitchen and dining room that overlooks the terrace. We have a laundry room and downstairs loo, boot room and front hall. Upstairs are 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an office. In the separate building, the loft bedroom has a small kitchenette, bathroom and balcony. Downstairs is our office and cinema room which also doubles as an extra bedroom for friends and family. This room is not heated so we tend to use as a bedroom in the warmer months. The house has the most beautiful aspect, with far reaching views down the valley. The south facing terrace is a sun trap, whilst the cinema room looks out on to the pretty raised beds of the kitchen garden. It is a family home, with a relaxed feel, set in one of the most beautiful villages in the South West. OUR GARDEN You step out from the sitting room or kitchen on to a large terrace with beautifully planted borders and a generous table and chairs for outdoor dining or evening drinks. The firebowl and bbq are perfect for cooking or keeping warm as the nights start to get cooler. The lawn is ideal for croquet, football or boules. Please help yourself to our kitchen garden, which jumps into life in the summer months, and the organic eggs from our lovely hens, who consistently lay 6 a day. The terrace and kitchen garden open out on to our large paddock, zip wire and stream. The garden is organic, we take care to compost and recycle, the house is heated by a ground source heat pump and we would ask guests to use the resources gently and share the space respectfully, with the environment being the foremost thought during their stay. I have no doubt that you will have a magical break. Guest access The whole place is yours. very private garden, not overlooked. Other things to note superfast full-fibre broadband
