It offers a mix of natural beauty, heritage, and traditional seaside fun. Top Attractions and Activities • Morecambe Promenade Stroll or cycle along the long, flat promenade, enjoying views across the bay to the Lake District mountains. Look out for the Eric Morecambe Statue — a must for photos — and the quirky art installations dotted along the way. • The Midland Hotel This iconic Art Deco hotel is a gem of 1930s architecture and offers stylish afternoon teas with bay views, even if you’re not staying there. • Morecambe Winter Gardens A beautiful Victorian theatre currently being restored. Visitors can often take guided tours and learn about its colourful history. • Happy Mount Park Great for families, with splash parks, adventure play areas, and lovely gardens. • Tidal Walks & Bay Crossings Morecambe Bay is famous for its guided walks across the sands, led by an official Queen’s Guide to the Sands. It’s a unique experience but always go with a guide — the tides and quicksands can be dangerous. • Birdwatching & Wildlife The bay is internationally important for birdlife. The RSPB Leighton Moss reserve (a short drive away) and the salt marshes are hotspots for birdwatchers. • Vintage by the Sea Festival If you’re visiting in early September, this award-winning festival brings vintage fashion, music, and design to life along the promenade. • Local Heritage Trips Morecambe is well-placed for day trips to the Lake District, Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and heritage towns like Lancaster with its medieval castle. Food & Drink • Sample fresh Morecambe Bay potted shrimps — a regional delicacy. • Enjoy fish and chips on the seafront. • Local cafés and bistros offer everything from artisan coffee to hearty Lancashire fare. Travel Tips • Tide Times Matter: If you’re planning any bay walks or beach time, always check tide tables. • Dress for the Breeze: Even in summer, the bay breeze can be cool — layers are your friend. • Parking: There’s plenty of pay-and-display parking near the promenade. • Public Transport: Trains and buses connect Morecambe to Lancaster and beyond, but for exploring the wider bay area, a car is useful.
