Cottage in Madremanya

Can Mases is a 13th century Catalan farmhouse, belonging to my family for generations, located in the Empordà region, in the North of Catalonia. It belongs to Madremanya, a small medieval village of historical and scenic interest. The space Mases is my great-grandfather's name. The house, named after its name, is a Catalan farmhouse dedicated to the cultivation of land and farm animals. It is built directly on the mother rock, without a foundation, with stone and clay of the area, using adobe as a putty. This old construction system is still performing the function of thermal insulation. The "Catalan vault" is another unique element of the construction of this house that can be seen on the porch in a double version, it is not attached to any house . We have currently restored the house handcrafted, preserving all these elements and incorporating natural materials, as it is the case with paintings of the walls that are handmade based on natural pigments of the area. The decor is also based on sustainability. The furniture is old restored by us and also handmade using recycled materials. For cold days, it has a fireplace that makes it pleasant to stay in the dining room and it is always difficult to separate from Ella. The rooms are heated with a heat pump and for summer air . All designed for you to feel comfortable and enjoy your stay . Guest access The whole house is rented out. It has a garden in the front and parking, porch with barbecue and garden with fruit trees in the back , where the ecological pool is located, built in 2016 free of chemical products, with a water plant purification area, where we can see dragonflies easily , a waterfall and a trampoline to dive in, everything is in a large fenced-in field.
