Mill Cottage, Templeton Bridge
Mill Cottage, Templeton Bridge
Description
This small two bedroomed cottage was built in 1800 when the Mill opposite was fully working. It is in a remote, quiet and secluded part of Mid Devon within an hour of both the North or South coasts of Devon. It is accessible down narrow single track country lanes. The nearest shops are in the town of Tiverton, five miles away. The broadband has been upgraded to Ultrafast fibre to the premises with speeds of at least 450mbps. However, there is no mobile phone signal in the valley. The space What's included? Basically just bring yourselves, and food and drink. The beds are made ready for you with cotton linen, towels & tea-towels provided. We provide washing up liquid, liquid soap and shower gel and the first few toilet rolls. Also is provided a basket of logs (and kindling, paper, matches) for the woodburner. The kitchen is well equipped. The second bedroom can be made up as two singles or as a king size double, just let us know which you prefer. We live nearby so if you need anything else please ask. A word of warning: This is an old cottage with low beams and a rather steep staircase which some may find difficult (See Photographs). Guest access You have use of the whole cottage and the garden opposite. Other things to note Second Bedroom: The second bedroom has twin beds but on request we can zip them together to make a king size double bed. Please let us know how you would like us to arrange the second bedroom. Mobile phone signal and WiFI Unfortunately there is NO mobile telephone signal at Mill Cottage as we are in a valley. There is however WiFi available that has been upgraded to ultrafast FTTP broadband and WiFi Call works very well. A word of warning: This is an old cottage with low beams and a rather steep staircase which some may find difficult (See Photographs). Bats: In the Devon countryside during the summer months, bats do settle in the lofts of most old properties, and as they are a protected species of mammal, owners are unable to do anything to disturb or remove the bats from the lofts or eaves. Mill Cottage has a nursery roost of bats from May to September in the eaves. We feel we should let you know that from time to time during the summer, despite us blocking off all small holes between the loft and the house, bats have entered Mill Cottage either at dusk or during the night, particularly when they are young. These are very small pipistrelle bats and are quite harmless. We ask you to leave the windows and doors closed at dusk. Watching the bats is an attraction for many people who love wildlife. But this may not be for everyone. Therefore, we feel it is important to let you know about the bats in advance so that you can be fully informed before you choose to book Mill Cottage. If you are a wildlife lover, we can lend you a bat detector to identify the bats during your stay.
