Description

The perfect base for visiting Bath (especially the Christmas Market) and exploring Wiltshire’s historic towns. Our cottage with sweeping views towards the Kennet & Avon Canal and the Westbury White Horse is situated in the beautiful, historic town of Bradford-on-Avon. Tucked away off the main road and up a short, steep lane this beautiful home is a peaceful haven with main train station, award-winning restaurants, pubs, quaint boutique shops and delis a gentle amble downhill. The space You will have a stone-built cottage, that dates from 1700s, to yourself during your stay. This delightful hideaway is still a home, the owner Pete is away for prolonged periods of time, and his presence is only felt via music, art books and a few knick knacks. Please note, it's a quaint cottage so those over 6-foot tall may have to duck. The self-catering cottage is fully equipped and has been refurbished to a high standard and sleeps up to 2 people in the main bedroom - the smaller room upstairs can be used to store cases and offers an escape route in case of fire (the bed has been dressed for decoration only). The cottage benefits from a comprehensively equipped modern kitchen with a dining table. In the sitting room area you'll find comfy designer reading chairs, sofa, and TV (which you can log into your own subscriptions). The log burner is available November to February on request at time of booking only and wood is charged at £8 per night. The bathroom has a large, walk-in shower, heated towel rail and illuminated mirror above the sink. Please note there is a low ceiling leading to the bathroom - those over 5 foot 3 may have to duck. The bedroom consists of a comfortable double bed, duvet with cotton bedding, wardrobe, chest of drawers and mirror. Hidden behind a quirky, sliding barn door you'll find a washing machine, ironing board and iron. Outside, the garden has a paved seating area that is the perfect, peaceful spot to take in the view, listen to the birds and share a bottle of wine. Please note, we leave the flower and seed heads in the autumn and winter months to feed the wildlife. With your stay at the cottage, you will be welcomed by tea, coffee and milk supplies. Fresh bedlinen and towels will also be provided. In the winter months (November-February), for stays of two nights and more we'll lay a fire ready to go in the log burner for your first night on request. Wood for further nights can be supplied at a cost of £8 a basket payable via cash or BACS - please message before midday on the you’d like the wood and we'll aim to deliver before 7.30pm. The cottage also benefits from: - Free unlimited and speedy Wi-Fi for guests who bring their own laptop & internet devices. - Flat screen Smart TV where you can log into your own subscriptions. - Bluetooth speaker - Shower with 24-hour on-demand hot water - Central heating - Fan oven, induction hob, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, washing machine - Hairdryer - Iron and ironing board - Free on-street parking on Wine Street - see below Check-in time is from 4.00 and check out is at 10.00am, although if we can we will try to accommodate earlier/later times. Please note: Free parking is on a one-way road. You can always find a space, and it could mean a short 3 minute walk to the house. The cottage is a little gem that's tucked away on a traffic-less lane, off the one way road, which is quite steep in places, so please take note if you have mobility issues. Cars can not park or drop off outside the cottage - due to access. Access to the cottage is via stone and wooden steps, and along a winding path to the front door. People with mobility issues may find the stairs both outside and in the house difficult to negotiate. Although there is room for a baby/toddler travel cot in the bedroom, due to the open, wooden stairs with no handrail (see photos) we do not feel it would be suitable. However, please do contact us as we are flexible, but you will be staying at your own risk. No smoking is permitted in the house or porch. Guest access Guest will have the whole house and garden with stunning views. Other things to note Please do take note of the open stairs with no handrail. And to be able to offer elevated views, the cottage is on the hillside, therefore there will be a picturesque uphill walk full of historical buildings from the town and train station. This cottage is over 300 years old, and ceilings are quite low. Those over 6-foot may have to duck in the kitchen.
