Cosy house in the heart of Chardonnay
Cosy house in the heart of Chardonnay
La Cadole de Chardonnay
Grand cru house
Description
Neither quite a hotel, nor just a gîte: here, you get the best of both. The independence of a house all to yourselves, the care of a place that truly welcomes you — in a setting you won't find anywhere else. Beautiful, yet simple and unpretentious: true luxury is feeling at home. The entire guesthouse just for you — 4 bedrooms, 10 guests — in the heart of the Chardonnay vineyards. A place with soul, for those who love intimate, under-the-radar addresses. The space From the grounds, the view opens onto the vineyards and our 1681 hunting lodge. A word of honesty before you book, because we like things to be clear. If what you're after above all is complete independence, with no one around, this isn't the spirit of this house — and we may have something better for you: another of our properties, entirely independent and self-contained. Write to us before booking, and we'll point you towards the place that suits you. But if you love places with character, hosts who know their region, and the kind of hospitality that can't be improvised — you're in the right place. We're Jean and Nathalie, the couple who live here on site, in a building separate from yours. You share neither the house, nor your terrace, nor your garden: your living space is yours alone. The large 38 m² glass-roofed pergola overlooking the pool is also at your disposal. Only the wooded grounds and the pool are shared — and the pool is yours throughout your stay. Our presence is a plus, never a constraint. We're not here to watch over you or invite ourselves into your stay, but to make life easier. The grounds and pool are maintained for you throughout your stay, without you having to give it a thought. For stays of more than a week, we also offer, if you wish, a mid-stay cleaning and change of linen, included in the price — it's up to you, your privacy comes first. The rest is à la carte and to your taste: tailor-made trip planning, gourmet treats, tips and good addresses. In an ordinary rental, a mishap is your problem; here, it's ours. That's the whole difference between renting a place and being genuinely welcomed. The rest of the time, we keep our distance. And if you're wondering what it's really like, read the reviews of those who came before you. Here, pets are welcomed — not merely tolerated. We share the place with our two White Swiss Shepherds, perfectly trained and quiet — they stay in their place, unless you call them over — and with Sven, our Maine Coon. If we accept them in our home, it's because we love them, and because we know how hard it is for a pet owner to find a place that truly welcomes them. Your companions are therefore welcome, at no extra charge, with a few common-sense conditions: up to 3 animals, well-behaved, sociable, neither on the beds nor the sofas, and never in the pool. Respect for the place, both ways. On arrival, a glass of Chardonnay awaits you under the pergola, to enjoy among yourselves, along with something to refresh you in the house: coffee, tea, fruit juice and water. For stays of a week or more, two bottles from our cellar are offered to you, and we can even do your first shop before you arrive: send us your list, we'll advance the purchases (which you settle on arrival). All you have to do is open the fridge. Southern Burgundy is full of estates, villages, trails and fine tables — but the best of it must be booked, located, chosen by season. That's where we come in, free of charge and if you wish: before you arrive, we map out a stay at your own pace with you. You'll also receive our welcome pack: 2 visit guides (18 full days in all), our favourite restaurants, 2 secret spots to learn to taste wine like a pro, and 3 walking trails around the house. And if you stay a while, we're glad to share our passion for wine, and we can pick you up and drop you off at Tournus station (10 minutes). CELEBRATIONS WELCOME, IN GOOD SPIRIT Family gatherings, hen and stag parties, birthdays: we love houses that fill with laughter, and you're at home to celebrate. Just one common-sense condition: respect for the neighbours. We keep things quiet after midnight, and the pool closes at nightfall, to avoid both accidents and noise. AROUND YOU — AND THERE'S PLENTY TO DO A prime location: at the crossroads of Southern Burgundy, you can easily roam across several departments — Saône-et-Loire, the Mâconnais vineyards, and as far as the Beaujolais (Rhône) and the Bresse (Ain) for a day trip. Heritage and great sites: the abbeys of Tournus and Cluny, the châteaux of Cormatin, Brancion, Berzé-le-Châtel and Pierreclos, the rocks of Solutré and Vergisson. Nature and open air: canoeing on the Saône, Segways, the village climbing site, the Voie Bleue cycle path (6 km) and walks through the vineyards. For all ages, as a family: treetop adventure, escape games, and lovely walks for young and old. Wine, of course: over 100 estates within a 15 km radius. 10 min from Tournus (trains to Lyon and Dijon every hour), 20 min from Mâcon. Guest access You have full and independent use of the guesthouse: bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, both kitchens, as well as a terrace and a private garden reserved for you alone, with a covered outdoor sofa and barbecue. The 38 m² glass-roofed pergola and the other terraces in the grounds are also at your disposal, with priority during your stay. Shared across the property: the 5,000 m² grounds and the pool (10x6), the latter yours to use throughout your stay. We live in a separate building on the same land — on hand to help if you wish, never to intrude. Other things to note Over 3,000 travellers have already stayed in Chardonnay — their reviews say more than we can, so do have a look. A few practical points: this is above all a house for 8, in the greatest comfort. Up to 10 people for short stays; for a longer stay at 9 or 10 people, or for a large group, we have other options and additional accommodation available on site — let's talk before you book. Pets welcome (3 max, no extra charge), provided they are well-behaved and sociable — not on the beds, not on the sofas, not in the pool. Out of respect for the neighbours, we keep things quiet after midnight, and the pool closes at nightfall. Brunch (€15/person) and aperitif board (€25/person) on request, to be booked ahead.
