Casa Fonaco is a lovingly restored 16th century hunting lodge in a tranquil and panoramic setting in the Tuscan hills. It is ideally situated in beautiful countryside and yet is only a few minutes by car from the medieval hill top town of Monterchi with its famous fresco of the Madonna del Parto by Piero della Francesca. Casa Fonaco is not simply a holiday let, rather it is a cherished ‘home from home’ where guests are welcome to relax and enjoy the comforts of home in a wonderful location. The space Casa Fonaco is ideal if you’re looking for a very comfortable place to stay in the Italian countryside where you can enjoy the natural beauty of olive groves and vineyards as well as having easy access to the many cultural gems of the Valtiberina area. The house itself, with its distinctive entrance hall, is on the Italian ‘belle arti’ register of listed buildings. The house has been carefully restored to retain its original character- ceilings with exposed wooden beams, Tuscan terracotta floors and wooden shutters. At the same time, modern facilities have been incorporated and the rooms are light, spacious and comfortably furnished. The accommodation, which sleeps 6, extends over 3 floors. There is a historic, 16th century, entrance hall with a series of pillars and internal arches; a well equipped kitchen/dining room; a spacious lounge with traditional fireplace; a second spacious sitting room with study area, 3 double bedrooms offering beds that can be used as singles or doubles according to preference and 3 shower rooms. A large terrace with panoramic views lies directly outside the kitchen/diner and there is also a large garden at the top of our olive grove opposite the house. Both are ideal for relaxing and eating/drinking al fresco, especially in the evenings as the sun sets over the surrounding fields and hills. The views from both the terrace and garden are spectacular. A television with all Italian channels is available in the lounge. WiFi is excellent and there are also TVs with DVD players in the kitchen/diner and top floor sitting room. In the sitting room there is also a wide selection of books, tourist information, DVDs and a work space. Registration details I applied for a CIN but haven’t received it yet
