Cosy countryside cottage with tennis court

‘Little Cottage’ is situated in the grounds of Fenny Castle House. Located on the bank of the River Sheppey; on the edge of the Somerset Levels and Mendip Hills AONB, midway between Wells and Glastonbury. The Cottage benefits from a shared garden and the use of the tennis court. The cottage has been beautifully converted and decorated by the owners and offers and all the home comforts that you could wish for; comfy furnishings, wood burning stove, super-fast broadband and a smart TV. The space The property is accessed along a pathway, leading from the parking area and up a few steps onto the raised terrace. Entering the cottage through double french doors from the terrace, you walk straight into the light and airy open plan living area. The living area contains a bright country-style kitchen, kitchen table with window seating and sofa area. One of the two sofas unfolds into a small double bed for those extra guests. The living area looks out onto the terrace and country views. Situated in the corner of the room is a wood burning stove and smart TV, perfect for those cosy nights in. The booskcase in the corner contains plenty of books to delve into and board games to enjoy with friends of family. The traditional kitchen contains an electric cooker with double oven and ceramic hob, a fridge freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher and washer/dryer, along with a wide selection of cooking utensils and tableware. Leaving the living area to the rear up, climb the step up into the hallway, containing a cupboard with hanging space. The hallway leads to a quiet double bedroom with king size bed. The bedroom benefits from a large chest of drawers and lined curtains, meaning you are guaranteed the perfect night’s sleep. By request, the king sized bed can be split to become two singles. In addition, it is possible to request that a put up bed is placed in the bedroom to accommodate a child. Also off of the hallway is a bathroom which benefits from a bath with overhead shower, wash basin and WC. Access to the property is via the terrace. The terrace accommodates a table and chairs amongst mature planting. A kettle-style BBQ is located for your sole use, in the garden to the front of the property. The garden to the front of the cottage is shared with the neighbouring holiday cottage, ‘Big Cottage’. The surrounding grounds are laid to lawn with a mature planting scheme of flowers, shrubs and trees. Guest are welcome to use the tennis court situated in the grounds in daylight hours. Basic tennis equipment is provided in the cottage. Guests are also welcome to use the outdoor table tennis table and pétanque court. There is a ping pong table within the grounds which guests are welcome to use. Guests are welcome to use the tennis court in daylight hours. The owners sometimes pre-book the court but we will do our best to ensure a note is put on the court gate to inform you in advance. There is plenty of parking. The path between the parking area and the cottage is lit with solar lighting. Other things to note Due to COVID-19 we have increased our cleaning process between guests. Due to the enhanced cleaning process we have introduced an earlier check-out time of 10am and a later check-in times of 4pm. We may be flexible on these if we do not have guests arriving / departing on the same day. Please ask. We have a rather energetic and friendly dog, Percy and an elderly dog, Archie, who will likely want to be friends with you! There is a gate between the main garden and the garden in front of the cottages which we ask you to keep closed to prevent the dogs from bothering you. The dogs are not allowed in the cottages (and they know this!). Percy loves tennis more than life itself, so he may join you if you play. Please keep the gate onto the court shut so that he does steal your balls (and please let us know if his presence is bothering you)! We provide a small welcome basket which includes the essentials; milk, tea, coffee, bread, butter & biscuits.
