Description

Our cosy, open plan ‘studio’ style accommodation for 2 is in the beautiful Lake District National Park, overlooking the fields & fells and 10 miles from the Solway coast, beaches & harbours. Granted UNESCO World Heritage Status in 2017, this area makes an ideal base for touring NW Cumbria, cycling, hiking fells & round lakes, climbing, canoeing, an en-route stopover for the Coast to Coast Cycle Route or a peaceful, romantic location for a countryside retreat. The space The Loft has been designed with comfort and convenience in mind. The double bed has a firm mattress with a memory foam mattress topper for added cosiness. The kitchenette is well equipped for self catering with mini oven & hob (suitable for cooking light meals), microwave, under counter fridge with handy freezer compartment, toaster and plenty of pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. There's also a dining area, a shower room (no bath) and a storage / wardrobe cupboard. With free Wi-fi, flat screen Smart TV with Freeview channel, CD player / radio and local area maps, books and board games there's plenty to keep you occupied whilst you're indoors. A portable cooling fan is available when needed. In lobby: Washer / dryer, drying rack, iron & ironing board, vacuum cleaner, hooks for hanging outdoor coats, rubber mat for walking boots & shoes. Secure storage is available for your cycles at no extra cost. Just let us know if you need this. Please note: Smoking / vaping is not permitted in The Loft. You may smoke / vape in the Courtyard. Outside: There's free parking for one vehicle at The Loft, in front of the black wooden garage doors. There's additional free parking available 100 yards up the lane opposite the church if it's needed. Table, chairs and fire pit are provided in Courtyard area. You'll find firewood, matches and kindling in the log store on the courtyard. Further supplies available from garages / supermarkets locally should you need them. Our wild-life friendly garden and the surrounding fields, fells and woodland are home to roe deer, hares, badgers, red squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs, rabbits, woodpecker, cuckoo and owls and a wide variety of other bird life. We are visited regularly by a cock pheasant who struts his way down across the field and garden and the neighbouring farmers’ special breed sheep are often grazing in the surrounding fields. We will be installing an electric vehicle recharging point in the future, however currently we are not able to support charging of electric vehicles via an extension cord plugged into the domestic supply as this can pose a fire risk. Electric charging points are available at some petrol stations, supermarkets and town car parks. You’ll be able to web search for locations, to help with your journey planning. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of The Loft, the lobby & stairs leading up to The Loft, and the Courtyard outside. Secure storage can be made available for your bikes by prior arrangement at no extra cost. Please note, the garden beyond the Courtyard is our private space. Other things to note The Loft is accessed via a staircase. It also has low eaves on two sides. As such it may not be the best fit accommodation for people over 6 feet tall. Please see the listing photos to gauge the available headroom before booking. When parking up at The Loft, please do not reverse onto our neighbour’s driveway. Thank you for being considerate. Lamplugh is a beautiful and peaceful rural location. As there are no shops nearby you will need to bring food and drink supplies with you or have your own transport to get to supermarkets in local towns. The nearest supermarkets are 8 miles away in Cockermouth. If you are looking for shopping malls and abundant nightlife you may be better suited booking accommodation in a town. If you enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, walking, cycling, canoeing, horse riding etc with access to quaint local pubs, rural town theatres and arts centres, cinemas and small independent shops then rural west Cumbria will probably suit you very well. The nearest garage for buying your petrol / diesel is on the A66 / A5086 roundabout, on the outskirts of Cockermouth. The Loft is a non smoking property. You may smoke or vape outside, in the Courtyard. The garden beyond the Courtyard is our private space. When you leave The Loft, either during your stay or at the end, please ensure that all the windows are closed, particularly the Velux window above the bed. If it rains whilst you’re out the bedding and mattress will get soaked in a surprisingly short time. Please ensure that you lock the downstairs lobby door when you go out. The Loft is not suitable for babies, children or pets. Please report any damage / breakages to the property & contents and if any appliances are faulty and need to be repaired / replaced during or after your stay. Due to their schedule, our cleaners arrive promptly at check out time, 10.00am, on the day of your departure and will need access to The Loft to prepare it for the next guests. If you decide to do any ironing, please use the ironing board rather than the bed. Lost property: If you find that you have left any belongings behind at The Loft, message us with details and we'll do our best to locate your items. Please note that there could be a delay in retrieving your items if our next guests have already arrived at the property for their stay. Return of items can be arranged at your own cost. Any items found and not claimed within one month will be donated to a local charity shop. Please treat The Loft with kindness and leave it as you find it. Thank you.
