Come & enjoy our cozy cottage, read in the garden and take a bath in natural pool purified by the plants that make it up. In the main house you’ll find a living-dining room, a fully equipped open kitchen, a double bedroom with bathroom, a porch and a chill-out. There is an additional small house in where there is a double room and a bathroom. We’re placed in a unique natural environment. The place is very quiet as there are no other buildings within a radius of 1 kilometer. The space In the main house you’ll find a living-dining room with direct access to the garden, a fully equipped open kitchen, a double bedroom with bathroom, a porch and a chill-out space. All rooms face the exterior. There is an additional small house (about 20 m away from the main house) in where there is a double room and a bathroom. It is exterior with direct access to the garden. Our place is located in the town of Vilacolum, between Olives trees, wheat fields and a moving Mediterranean nature. We are located in L’Alt Empordà, a region with a great landscape, cultural, gastronomic and recreational wealth. Our coastline is extraordinarily diverse and welcoming, from long and sandy beaches in Sant Pere Pescador to hidden coves among the rocks such as Cala Jugadora in Cadaqués or Cala Bol Roig in L'Escala. In the region we have a great variety of natural areas and we’d like to mention the closest three: 1. "Els Aiguamolls de l'Empordà", a natural park full of fauna and vegetation located 15 minutes away by car. It is a perfect place to bike it around. We rent the bikes in Sant Pere Pescador (the place is called RENTBIKE - you’ll easily find it when googling it) 2. "La Serra de l’Albera", a Mediterranean mountain range that begins at the seashore with enclaves of high historical value, such as dolmens and castles. There are many trekings available. Probably it is best if you go to the tourist information point in Figueres to get recommendations that suits you best. 3. “El Camí de Ronda”, a tremendously aesthetic coastal path that follows the rugged coastline of the Costa Brava, connecting natural spaces with towns. You could start it from Platja Fonda (between Begur and Tamariu) and walk as far as your motivation goes (even several days until you reach the last town before France). We truly recommend as it is an incredible experience and suitable for all publics. If we speak about culture, in Figueres - the capital of the region and is located less than 20 minutes by car from Vilacolum - we have the Salvador Dalí Museum-Theater, one of the most visited museums in Spain. You cannot miss it even if you are not admirers of the artist or of the surrealist art as his creative ability is truly amazing and fascinates both adults and kids. You can also visit his house in the town of Portlligat and take the opportunity to spend a day in the Cap de Creus area, another amazing protected natural area at less than 1h away from our house. If you are history lovers, another of the essential visits in the region is the Greco-Roman sites of Rosas and Empúries. You can also visit the Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and the Basilica of Santa Maria de Castelló d'Empúries. Likewise, Perelada and Villabertran are two villages with a unique medieval flavor; definitely worth checking them out. L ’Alt Empordà is also characterized by its gastronomic richness and without a doubt we recommend you try the 'suquet', a local dish made of fresh fish. In these authentic restaurants they do it delicious and in the traditional way: 1. Can Narra - Llençà 2. Miryam - L’Escala 3. El pescador - Cadaqués 4. Restaurant Falconera - Roses The production of organic fruits and vegetables in the region is growing and we love it. Every Saturday a market called Món Empordà is organized for organic, local and seasonal products. We go very often as it is a good opportunity to buy quality products, get to know the local scene and have a good time! We also like the magic and charm of old objects to decorate our place (you’ll observe that :-)). On Saturdays both Verges and Celrà organize flea markets in where you can find those unique objects at a very low price. It will take you less tha 20 minutes to get there! If you love to practice water sports such as Windsurf, Kitesurf, dinghy or Kayak, Sant Pere Pescador is one of the best places to carry them out. And we also have it 15 minutes by car. In conclusion, L’Alt Empordà is full of natural life-style-related activities. We encourage you to inform yourself in depth via the internet, blogs or tourist offices so you can also find unique cozy spots where you’ll feel alone and connected with the land - luckily mass tourism hasn’t arrived here :-). By the way, do not forget to check out things to do in El Baix Empordà, the southern part of L’empordà; it is equally astonishing!
