Description
Your destination in the heart of south France, Le Donjon du Chateau accommodates families and groups in a comfortable, self-service, fully-equipped apartment. This medieval tower was built beginning 1175 and has been continuously inhabited since that time. Now it’s been converted to a comfortable, three-story lodging with views of the surrounding countryside. Some of the rooms have 15 foot arched ceilings while others have beautiful fireplaces and mantels! The space Welcome to our guest house, the former "donjon" or castle keep of the historic Chateau de Balsac. The village of Balsac is one of many pretty, historic towns set in the countryside surround Rodez, the capital of the department of Aveyron. We can help you plan your vacation by offering you maps and insights into visits and other activities. You can take advantage of the bicycles that are yours to use for free to explore nearby trails. Aveyron is the undiscovered gem of southern France, full of preserved stone villages and dramatic geographic formations. Guest access Guests may access the tower rooms and--if they are up for it--can climb the narrow stairs through the attic to the balcony, which has commanding 270-degree views. Guests have a dedicated access door to their lodging, and a private entrance to the building. Guests may use the swimming pool (a half-in, half-out small pool with one depth that is not heated and closed during the cold months) and the hot tub, which is limited to adults. Other things to note The stone stairway leading to the guest rooms is narrow, and thus not advisable for small children or elderly persons.
