Description

Set within an acre of secluded gardens, Penroc Barn sits in the beautiful Welsh countryside just outside the market town of Llandovery. It dates from the sixteenth century and is a self-contained part of a larger property where the owner lives. It has been uniquely and sympathetically converted to retain its true character and highlight the beautiful old beams. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families & kids, and furry friends (Two well-behaved pets only). The space Penroc Barn dates from the sixteenth century and is a self-contained part of a larger property where the owner lives. It has been uniquely and sympathetically converted to retain the true character of the place and highlight the beautiful old beams. There is oil central heating. The barn comprises a double-height entrance hall with a piano which leads into a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a wood stove, gas cooker, fridge, and freezer. (A high chair is also available.) There is a downstairs loo/shower room (with a washing machine) and a comfortable, spacious yet cosy living room with an open fire, TV and DVD player. (One of the sofas is a sofabed.) Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and one triple bedroom (double and a single) and a bathroom. There is wifi throughout. In the garden there is a bbq. There is ample off-road parking in the front of the barn. Other things to note Penroc Barn is a 20-minute walk from Llandovery, a quiet market town in an area steeped in history and legend. Llandovery train station is on the Heart of Wales line. Llandovery has some interesting shops, cafes, pubs as well as 2 supermarkets. There are wonderful places to walk, both from Penroc Barn itself and also a short drive away – the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountain, Dolaucothi Goldmines, and Dinas Bird Sanctuary. There are castles (Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr, Kidwelly, and Llandovery itself) within easy reach as well as unspoilt beaches, mountain biking trails, and country parks. Dylan Thomas’s Boathouse at Laugharne is an hour away, west of Llandovery. The National Botanic Gardens and Aberglasney Gardens are both within an hour’s drive and the neighbouring town of Llandeilo with its boutiques and cafes is 10 miles away. Hay-on-Wye, the town of books, is an hour to the east by car.
