Description
The Tanhouse Studio is a truly unique property right in the heart of the historic village of Culross; one of the most charming villages in Scotland. Steeped in history, blessed with incredible views, galleries, an abbey, a castle, a palace, cafes, and most importantly a pub(!), it is the perfect location for a relaxing break. The studio has the added benefit of incredible views across the forth from every window, a home gym and bikes that can be hired for free The space The main house, The Tanhouse (circa 1750), sits within a large corner plot and the Studio flat is situated at some distance away from the house so guests will have complete seclusion for the duration of their stay. The property benefits from secure, gated parking at the studio flat. Being in the centre of Scotland it is the ideal staging point for exploring the country; Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews and Loch Lomond are all around 40 to an hour minutes away. The studio itself has an open plan layout which means that it is beautifully light and airy with unbeatable views across the village and the Firth of Forth. The studio has a super-king size bed and a 2 seater sofa and armchair which are ideal for watching the 32' TV + DVD/CD player. There is also a small selection of films and games in an attempt to cover all entertainment needs. The kitchen area houses a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, mini oven/grill, a small air fryer and a 2 burner hob. A table and chairs are situated at the end of the kitchen with ample room for 2 guests to eat (all crockery and cooking utensils are available). If the weather is nice (Scotland dependent...) there is a private outside seating area for guests which takes in spectacular view across the forth. The usual selection of crockery, pots etc is provided (as are basic cooking ingredients; oil, salt, pepper, tea coffee etc.) If you plan on eating out in the evenings we would highly recommend booking at the local pub (The Red Lion.) During the summer months there are 4 lovely cafes in the village and (usually) a small market on the village green on Sundays. The shower-room has an electric corner shower, velux window, toilet and hand basin. All linen, soaps, towels etc. will be provided by your hosts in addition to soap etc. We have a clothes washing machine that long term guests are free to use. We have 2 mountain bikes (and two helmets) that can be hired for minimal daily charge so that guests can explore the area by bike! We also have a full home gym that guests can access. The gym has a running machine, rowing machine, kettle bells and a punch bag which are free to use for guests (guests are asked NOT TO USE the turbo bike set up). We offer our guests free range eggs from our chickens and (hopefully) a selection of home made jams from our vegetable/fruit garden (please note that this depends on availability!). A welcome pack is provided with local information, a detailed plan of local walks and a guidebook. Guest access Guests have a private outdoor seating and garden area. We ask that guests please do not stray into the grounds of the main house, the vegetable garden or the main gardens. Other things to note Guests should be aware that there is no grocery shop in the village. There is an excellent supermarket in Kincardine (CO-OP) about 10 minute's drive away and a small shop in High Valleyfield (5 minute drive). We will, however, supply cooking basics. The studio has a micro-oven but not a specific oven - please bear this in mind when booking. We have a dog (springer spaniel) who lives on the property. He's friendly but if you have allergies or are afraid of dogs please let us know.
