Travel to Svaneti Mestia by train is not possible, there is no railway directly to Upper Svaneti, but you can reach Zugdidi. All public ground transportation goes via Zugdidi city. About 120 kilometers of Zugdidi Mestia road was recently renewed. If you travel from Batumi to Mestia or getting from Kutaisi to Mestia, normally you passing Zugdidi.
