Warm, cosy and comfortable, our main door home is the perfect city home from home in the New Town of Edinburgh, a world Heritage Site. The flat is accessed via fifteen, original external stone steps from the pavement via a secure and lockable cast iron gate. Our flat was the original kitchen in the house, with exposed original fireplaces, once used for cooking and laundry. We are so close to the city centre but in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. The space Welcome to our home in the New Town of Edinburgh. It is a main door basement flat, which is accessed by external stone steps. There is a lockable cast iron gate at the top of the steps. Before being renovated, our home was the original kitchen for the house. We have exposed the three original stone fireplaces, which in the 1800s, were used for cooking, heating water and laundry. Only our flat is accessed from the private front patio. In the summer months the basement steps have an assortment of colourful pots and hanging baskets and the steps are a great place to sit in the late afternoon sunshine. A contemporary kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. The fully tiled internal bathroom has a powerful shower over the bath, providing an instant and plentiful supply of hot water. There is also a shaver point, heated towel rail and extractor fan. The quiet double bedroom, situated at the rear of the flat, has a comfy double bed with a Kingsize duvet. There is a large wardrobe and two small bedside tables. There is also a gas boiler, which is housed in its own cupboard and a tumble dryer in the room. The bedroom has patio doors opening onto a small, enclosed patio space. Nearby on Broughton Street you will find some of the best coffee in Edinburgh, Crombie's the butchers, within the Broughton Market shop, Something Fishy - for fresh and cured fish, Real Foods - organic and healthy, interesting local cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs. There are also several shops selling locally crafted works of art. Please take a look at our 'guidebook' for some personal recommendations. Our central location means that St Andrew's Square, Princes Street and Waverley Train Station are all less than a 10 minute walk away. The flat is only a three minute walk from the Picardy Place tram stop, which is the direct line for Edinburgh airport. The St James' Quarter, Playhouse Theatre, John Lewis and the Omni Centre are all within a five minutes walk. Edinburgh castle - 20 minutes walk. Calton Hill - 10 minutes walk. Scottish Parliament - 20 minutes walk. Botanical Gardens - 20 minutes walk. A supply of milk, tea and Scottish biscuits are provided on the welcome tray for guests. There is a Nespresso machine with a good supply of coffee capsules for the duration of your stay. Included: Wireless Internet access, John Lewis Egyptian cotton bed linen and soft towels, hairdryer and full use of the kitchen (with a small selection of oil, spices, salt and pepper for preparing and cooking meals at home) washing machine, condenser tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Toiletries in the bathroom; toilet rolls, hand wash, body wash/soap and shampoo are available for guests. Parking: Metered on street parking is available for visitors Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5.30pm, charged by the city council at £6.00 an hour, as at July 2026 (maximum parking time is in 4 hour blocks) - Zone 6. It is free to park from Friday 5:30pm until Monday morning at 8:30am in Zone 6. For longer stays there is a choice of two car parks nearby; the St James' centre and Q Park at the Omni centre. Travelling by bus: Only a one minute walk to the nearest bus stop and the city bus station is less than a five minute walk away. Access: Due to the stone steps, the flat may be unsuitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties. There are 15 external stone steps, which lead down from the pavement to our front door. There is a cast iron handrail to the side of the steps.
