Description

Unwind, recharge and enjoy a little animal therapy at this spacious, fully equipped 3 double bedroom, 2 bathroom lodge with private electric Hot Tub on a peaceful farm deep in the beautiful East Ayrshire countryside with very friendly animals including dogs, cats, horses, goats, Valais Blacknose Sheep, Shetlands, Highland Cows, peafowl and chickens as well as the abundant surrounding wildlife. The peaceful Lodge is detached & private with the River Nith running along the farm grounds. The space There’s something for everyone here, with plenty of entertainment both on-site and nearby to keep the whole family happy. Relax on your private terrace with garden furniture, or sink into your own private electric hot tub and soak up the stunning surroundings. From here, you can watch the busy birdlife, spot wildlife roaming the land, and enjoy breathtaking sunsets. As evening falls, there’s nothing quite like sitting in the warm bubbles beneath crystal-clear skies. With Galloway Forest Park — the first park in the UK to be awarded Dark Sky status — just a short drive away, the stargazing here is truly unforgettable. Animal lovers will feel right at home. You’re welcome to say hello to our friendly animals, many of whom love a cuddle. And yes… sheep selfies are encouraged! Some of our adorable residents are Valais Blacknose sheep, often described as the cutest and friendliest sheep in the world. The farm also has its own fold of friendly Highland Coos! If you’d rather stay close to the lodge, there’s still plenty to enjoy. Inside you’ll find a huge 50" wall mounted Smart TV, DVD player, books, WiFi, and a selection of board games for cosy evenings in. Outside, there’s a firepit/BBQ grill available for your use (wood only). Everything you need to get the fire going can be provided for £8. Step straight from your door onto scenic walks across the land, including a beautiful riverside stroll along the River Nith, which borders the farm grounds. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views down the Nithsdale Valley. The area is rich in wildlife, with birds of prey, herons, roe deer, hares and even otters regularly spotted. Things to Do Locally Just a short distance away is the unique New Cumnock Swimming Pool — the only heated, open-air freshwater swimming pool in Scotland. Opened in 2017 by Charles III, it remains a much-loved local attraction. Golf enthusiasts will find several excellent courses nearby, and for those seeking relaxation, the spa at the Lochside Hotel offers indulgent treatments. Its restaurant is also a firm favourite with our guests. Within easy reach are the sandy beaches and charming seaside towns of Ayr, Irvine and Troon — perfect for a traditional day by the sea. You could even try your hand at gold panning in Wanlockhead, Scotland’s highest village, which offers spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. Fans of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, will find numerous museums and memorials celebrating his life and work throughout the region. Horse lovers are well catered for too, with several recommended riding schools nearby. For something truly special, enjoy an experience day with the magnificent Clydesdales at Blackstone Farm and ride them along the beach. Alternatively, here on the farm, we offer farm tour experiences where you can go around with Cat, the owner and get more personal introductions to the animals, feed them some of their allowed treats and get plenty of pictures with them. The tour is a wonderful opportunity for some peaceful animal therapy. During lambing season (January-May), guests may also have the chance to bottle-feed pet lambs. All experiences are at extra cost, please message Cat for more info. Outdoor enthusiasts will love exploring Galloway Forest Park, the largest forest in the UK, spanning over 300 square miles of breathtaking landscapes. From tranquil valleys and rugged rock faces to moorland, lochs and ancient woodland, it’s a haven for wildlife including red and roe deer, wild goats and birds of prey. The Scottish Dark Sky Observatory is also located on the northern edge of the park. For a day in the city, Glasgow is just over an hour away. Closer still are the historic treasures of Drumlanrig Castle and Culzean Castle, both set within stunning grounds and gardens. Drumlanrig has hosted the Tough Mudder events and offers mountain bike trails, while Culzean — Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction — boasts beautiful woodland trails leading down to the beach. The farm is also just 10 minutes from Dumfries House, the magnificent 18th-century stately home saved and restored under the patronage of King Charles III. Set within 2,000 acres, it features architecture by Robert Adam and exquisite interiors including furniture by Thomas Chippendale. There truly is something for all ages to enjoy. If you require more space, please see our separate listing for the three-bedroom lodge. Please note: Bed linen, bath mats, hand towels and tea towels are provided. Guests are kindly asked to bring their own bath and hot tub towels (we recommend bringing spares so you always have a dry one available). Guest access You have full access to anywhere in the lodge and can use everything supplied as it is fully equipped. The lodge backs on to the yard which is also accessible and leads to walks around the land where you can see the animals. Please feel free to go on any walks around the beautiful river bordered 75 acres of land on the property as long as paths are kept to and you do not go into fields with animals in. Boots advised during certain seasons. The drive is a single farm track with bumps for the rain drainage and will more than likely have animals on it so must always be taken slowly. Smaller cars may struggle in certain Winter conditions. Other things to note Important Information – Please Read This is a working farm and equestrian site, with large animals, farm machinery and a river running along the boundary. For safety reasons, children must always be supervised and accompanied by an adult while outdoors. This is also the dogs’ home. They are friendly and will not be shut away during your stay. If you are uncomfortable around dogs, this may not be the right setting for you. (Please note, dogs are not allowed inside the lodges.) As this is my home, please do not invite additional visitors to the farm without prior permission. It’s important for both security and insurance purposes that I know who is on site. Extra guests may not stay overnight if the lodge is already at full capacity, as this would invalidate insurance. If the lodge is not at capacity, overnight visitors may be permitted for an additional fee — but please ask in advance. Bed linen is provided; towels are not. Please bring your own bath and hot tub towels (spares are recommended so you always have dry ones available). Finally, this is a peaceful countryside retreat and not a party venue. The farm welcomes groups of friends, however, parties and loud gatherings are not permitted. Animals are housed close to the lodges — including pregnant livestock at certain times of year — and loud music or excessive noise can cause them stress. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Registration Details EA00042F
