Welcome to your perfect countryside bolthole — where every detail is designed for comfort, connection and rejuvenation. Dunkery Cottage is one of six dog-friendly holiday cottages, converted from traditional farm buildings. Located in the heart of Exmoor, a 10min walk from Wheddon Cross (great pub, shop, and petrol station). The space Dunkery Cottage can accommodate up to 4 guests, with a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. Enjoy a complimentary cream tea upon arrival! Dunkery Cottage faces due west and has a lovely open position with a small walled patio with garden furniture. This cottage gets superb sunsets from patio and living area; the kitchen window and double bedroom have wonderful views across the gardens. The lounge features a cozy three-piece suite, a stone fireplace with an electric log-style fire and two radiators. A 32inch TV with Freeview and a DVD player cater to entertainment needs. The kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, and microwave. Yorkshire Tea, Nescafe Gold Blend coffee and sugar are provided, as well as a selection of Pukka herbal teas. There is ample chinaware and cookware. Cleaning essentials such as washing up liquid, a surface cleaner and hand soap are on hand too. There is an extendable dining table with seating for six beside the kitchen. The first floor consists of a double and a twin bedroom, both equipped with radiators and quality beds dressed in crisp cotton linens. The bathroom is fitted with a bath and shower over and stocked with Tynham Luxury soap, shower gel, moisturizer, and shampoo, plus White Company towels. The cottage benefits from gas central heating throughout, as well as superfast Starlink Wi-Fi, free parking next to the cottage, and a brace of EV Chargers. You also have access to the gardens, massive BBQ, and games room with ping-pong, table football, and more. All guests are provided with a mobile app which gives full information about Little Quarme, optional items that we can provide and recommendations for places to visit, local pubs and restaurants etc. Our nightly price decreases for the longer you stay - Little Quarme Farm is the perfect base to explore all of Exmoor, as well as much of Devon and Somerset, and makes a blissful week or two away to truly unwind. NB: We can supply High Chairs, Travel Cots, and Changing Mats for children on request at no extra charge - please let us know if you need them at least 24hrs prior to your arrival. Dunkery has a door at the bottom of the stairs and we can install a stairgate at the top on request. Guest access All guests have access to over two acres of landscaped garden, which has numerous secluded seating areas and a beautiful pond (children must be supervised at all times around the pond). There is also a giant BBQ which guests are welcome to use, and we can supply tinder, charcoal, and BBQ utensils at extra cost. In addition we have eighteen acres of fields - we have goats and chickens roaming in some of them, but guests are welcome to explore - just ask us in advance to we can provide updated information livestock and access. We also have an events barn with comfy sofas, full size ping pong table, along with table football, a mini pool table, and dozens of board games. Occasionally the barn is reserved for private events - we are a licensed wedding venue and also offer catered and uncatered dinner party hire, and daytime hire for corporate and social events. We have a pair of EV Chargers, one tethered, in the upper car park - these supply up to 7.5KW of power and are managed by the Voltshare App. We have two car parks and an overflow parking field - for Dunkery cottage we recommend guests use the upper car park. When not using the EV Chargers, we ask that guests park away from them to give others space to charge. Our cottages sit at the head of the Quarme Valley with stunning southerly views across the Exmoor countryside. You will be spoilt for choice with lots of beautiful local walks through woods, open moorland and fields. Views from Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor and just a few miles on foot or by car from Little Quarme) stretch to Dartmoor in the south, Hinkley Point in the east and even the Brecon Beacons in Wales on a very clear day. Dogs are very welcome at Little Quarme- if you have any questions regarding bringing your dogs, please get in touch. We charge £5 per dog per stay and provide a goody box with water bowl, poo bags, treats, toys, towels, furniture blankets, and collar tags with our details. We have two EV chargers, one of which is tethered in case you forget your charging cable. Our Games Barn is normally available to guests - it features table football, pool, ping pong, board games, and a sun deck. It is also available to hire for workshops, dinner parties, anniversaries, and wedding ceremonies. Wheddon Cross is a village in the parish of Cutcombe in the heart of Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and is often referred to as a "carpet of snowdrops"! Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through. Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and various bus services. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops, cafes and restaurants, etc throughout the town.
