Description

Located in the front of the property, Queen Room comes with a queen sized bed and features a small but functional private bathroom with a shower. It has a private entrance just off the verandah. The room is full of all the important details and standard creature comforts: ensuite bathrooms, queen beds, super soft high quality linens, plush towels, rain showers with solar hot water, overhead fans, air-conditioning, high ceilings, free wifi and jungle views. Breakfast is included in the rate. The space A chilled haven, a friendly abode, a gathering place. Set back from the busy main road in a traditional little village, surrounded by lush jungle, with a secluded beach at the end of the road, The Kip is the gem we have always dreamed of. Surrounded by lush jungle and the sound of surf breaks, The Kip is our humble hideaway in the middle of the Sri Lankan South Coast, home to all things slow, sustainable and creative. Following the 'less is more' ethos throughout our rooms, you’ll get a taste of the slow life. The villa is centered around its open air courtyard, while at the back of the property banana, coconut and avocado trees aplenty make for a place to unwind, relax and embrace your green thumb. Guest access The Kip Café tucked away in our front yard offers a regularly changing menu based on seasonal, local ingredients and a slow approach to food - Food raised the way it was meant to be, and consumed in the area and season it was harvested. Wind down, meet fellow travellers and listen to captivating story telling over delectable brunch and dinner. You will get a taste of the slow life at The Kip. We have a little library, with games and colouring in books for you to use as well as a vintage bike perfect for cruising inland on.

Although we don’t have a pool onsite, we have a secluded little beach 200m away. We can also recommend some fabulous places close by that allow day use of their pool.

As the sun goes down the internal courtyard is the place to be. Star gaze on a balmy night with chilled beats in the background or join us for dinner and practice the art of meaningful conversation with other like minded and socially conscious travellers.
The environment & sustainability are super important to us at The Kip, as is animal welfare. As such we try and do what we can: from not buying plastic water bottles & drinking straws to using a compost and only buying ethical furniture (eg. no leather, locally made). - Location - The Kip is the perfect base for exploring the South coast and home to some of the best surf in Sri Lanka. The heart of Ahangama town is only a short walk away. Full of lively stalls, lots of eateries and all the necessities (supermarket, pharmacy, ATM's) Only a 10min tuk tuk ride from the hustle and bustle of Welligama, and 20mins to the famous UNESCO Heritage Galle Fort means you have the best of both worlds. Close to all the action yet just far enough away to enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the jungle. Want to see a tea plantation, visit a traditional Ayurvedic doctor, or learn how to cook a banging Sri Lanka rice and curry. No problem. As the Kip is located in a traditional working village all that is easily accessible. Temples, rice paddies, colourful markets and stilt fisherman are also all on our doorstep. Other things to note We can help you organise private transfers to/from the airport or anywhere else on the island through our reliable and trustworthy drivers.
