Description

Unique Heritage Apartment in Wellington CBD. Refurnished 1920s Arts&Crafts interior. Earthquake strengthened (100%NBS). Luxury Queen Bed with fine linens & Eco-toiletries. Shared Bathroom, Kitchen & Living Room. Continental breakfast, incl. homemade bread, cereals, espressos coffee, fine teas and biscuits. On street parking (metered/coupon fees apply) Garage option (additional fee). Upstairs apartment (no wheelchair access) Big, friendly dog lives on site (see photos). The space This heritage listed apartment is situated above one of the original power substations in Wellington city. Built in 1925, the unusual Arts and Crafts style apartment upstairs was designed to house the family of the substation manager. The substation was decommissioned in the 1990s and all the substation equipment removed. My family purchased the property in a derelict state in 2013 and undertook its painstaking restoration over several years, including earthquake strengthening to approximately 100% NBS. There is also a Single Bedroom in the apartment available for rent though Airbnb. See - https://abnb.me/t0pclVktcN Guest access All the facilities at this location, apart from the bedroom, are shared with the live-in owner so we appreciate respectful guests who will treat our beautiful heritage apartment like their own home. We are happy to provide espresso coffee on request and have a selection of black, green and fruit teas (and biscuits!) for you to enjoy. Free continental style breakfast is included as part of the rental fee. This consists of a selection of cereals and muesli, Greek yoghurt, homemade bread or Vogels toast, sweet and savoury spreads as well as fresh or cooked seasonal fruits. Please let us know when booking if you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies. Laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer or outdoor clothes line) are available on site if required. Please ask us for assistance before using. There are also several dry-cleaning businesses nearby (with overnight services). We have a small deck, garden and a rooftop terrace that guests are welcome to enjoy. These are especially pleasant on a sunny day. There is also a badminton court up here that you are welcome to use (please retrieve any shuttlecocks immediately if lost over the side of the building). We ask that any young children visiting be accompanied at all times when outside and NO high heeled shoes be worn on the roof or deck. During your stay Whether you are locals visiting Wellington for a special event or international tourists visiting New Zealand for the first time, we will be happy to welcome you to our city and give you any advice you need on what to see and how to get there. We also welcome business travellers who are keen to stay somewhere a little unique but still right in the heart of the CBD. Other things to note As the apartment is located in the CBD, there can be some unavoidable street noise at night. If this is a problem, please talk to Caroline. There is currently no communally accessible television at the property but we do have fibre internet on site and are happy to help you set up your personal devices to stream your favourite tv or films. We also have a large selection of DVDs, music, records (LPs), books, magazines and some boardgames that you are welcome to use on request.
