Our Glasgow Guest House is a 325 sq ft cottage behind our house on Coos Bay. Furnished with a queen bed, dresser, smart TV and a kitchenette. The kitchenette has an apartment-sized fridge, a hot plate, an electric skillet and a microwave. In a cupboard is a small convection/toaster oven. The space is warm, clean and quiet, with natural Douglas fir flooring and a tiled bath. Bright and cheery, our cottage is furnished with two comfy Poang chairs from IKEA, a vintage dresser from a Mills College dorm and a colorfully painted bar. Also part of the decor: an old oak library table and a small folding wood table, both of which belonged to my grandmother. Several years ago, I had an artist friend paint the little table and it has provided the focal point for the color scheme. The cottage looks out on our very large backyard and is a few steps away from our home. If you have a question or need something, knock on the back door and we will help you. I was caregiver for my elderly mother and we traveled back and forth between her home and ours. The cottage was created so that when we (my husband John, my mother and I) came home, we would have a place to stay without disturbing our tenants in the house. If we are home, which we usually are, we are always available for any assistance that may be needed. The Glasgow area is considered a desirable neighborhood because of the hillside on which it is situated, which protects the area from sometimes intense summer winds. We are less than 4 miles from Horsfall Beach, less than 30 minutes away from Sunset Bay State Park, Bastendorff Beach, and Shore Acres' historical gardens. We are 45 minutes and 30 miles away from the amenities of Bandon, Oregon: a colorful old-town with unique shopping opportunities, a beautiful beach, several good food options, and the world-renowned Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The golf resort has been identified as one of the world's top links golf courses. There is no local public transportation available. We are less than a mile from the historic McCullough Bridge, a mile-long span built in 1934-36 and designed by Conde B. McCullough, who designed 10 other beautiful bridges along the Oregon Coast. You can walk the bridge for expansive views of the Bay. In the pantry cupboard are a few basic foods. Help yourself if there is something you need. There is a mom and pop grocery across the street where you can get groceries, fresh coffee, beer and wine, doughnuts, and a newspaper.
