Cosy chalet bungalow & garden near Sherborne
Description
Perfect get away set in beautiful Dorset countryside within the historic village of Yetminster. Self contained annexe fully equipped to make your stay comfy. A few minutes’ walk away is the village shop, a 16th century pub, and the Old School Gallery for lunch, coffee & cakes. You are welcome to relax in the garden or explore the stunning countryside, the Jurassic coastline (40 mins) or historic Sherborne (15 mins). A number of National Trust properties are also within an easy drive. The space Set tucked away in a peaceful village it’s a restful getaway to spoil yourself with. There are lots of places to explore within easy range - the Cerne Giant, the Jurassic Coast, Yeovilton Air Museum, Glastonbury Tor, Abbotsbury Swannary & Gardens and many National Trust properties, to name just a few. I always leave a pile of brochures & maps for you to go through. Although it’s a small village we are only six miles away from historic abbey town of Sherborne (Sherton Abbas in Thomas Hardy’s books). If you are a Thomas Hardy fan than you can visit his house just outside Dorchester. Fancy the beach then try Weymouth, Chesil Beach (truly unique), or West Bay. Go a little further and you will find the stunning Studland Bay, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Bournemouth or the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world, Poole (the 1st is Sydney). All of that and much more is within easy driving distance. Don't fancy driving? There is train station in our village, which is a request stop (always a novelty!) which can take you down to the coast at Weymouth or up to Bristol. The gallery bedroom upstairs has a beautiful view of the garden and our very old village church. We have free wi-fi and the TV has Netflix or make use of the selection of games, cards and books. Feel free to take a book home if you haven't finished it. The village pub and stores are just a few minutes’ walk away - although you would never guess that when sitting enjoying the garden. Enjoy a glass of wine on the patio outside your door under the wisteria or lounge on the swing seat amongst the flowers. Free parking for one car is on the drive and any more can park free in the street. If you feel energetic there are bridleways, walks and lanes to enjoy (if you brought a bike we can lock it up if required). For those history buffs amongst you I have left a book of the village as it was - take a wander around and you will find many building that look exactly the same. For those of you who like to cook the kitchen is well equipped with full sized cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker and lots of cooking equipment. In addition we have left a cool bag, ice packs, plates & cutlery that you can take out for a picnic. Guest access You have a private front door with parking close on the driveway. Enjoy the garden (we use a different part) so feel free to wander around the many flower beds and sniff the roses or just admire the view to the village church. There a patio just outside your front door which has a table & chairs under the Wisteria, perfect for breakfast, or indulge yourself on the swinging chair with that book & glass of wine. There are raised vegetable beds further down the garden where hopefully there may be some fresh salad you can go and help yourself to. Other things to note There is a step down to the patio from the drive however if you feel the step is an issue you can walk round on the grass down a gentle slop. The bedroom is upstairs & bathroom downstairs so probably not suitable if you had limited mobility
