Welcome to the Zataris Place. Experience nature firsthand as our home is nestled on 12.4 wooded acres and cannot be seen from the road. We provide a quiet, relaxing escape away from the bustle of the city. We are only a mile from the entrance to Hunter Mountain and have an amazing close view of it. We are centrally located in the area for easy reach to events and places of interest. Your next adventure awaits with skiing, hiking, swimming in lakes and more to choose from! Enter our lovely home to an open, spacious living area with a fireplace and lots of room to cozy up or spend time enjoying each others company. Eat on the porch while watching the hummingbirds or have a relaxing sway in the hammock before roasting marshmallows on your own bonfire under the Milky Way. If you need to touch base with reality, don't fret, as our wi-fi has a strong, reliable signal. Our yard is big enough for plenty of games and enjoying the outdoors. Guests have the entire first floor of the two family house with their own entrance. No space or access is shared with the house on the second floor. The second floor is used by the owners only but will remain vacant, ensuring your privacy, during your stay. THINGS TO DO AROUND OUR HOME: Skiing During the winter months, usually running from late November to mid April, Hunter Mountain provides the best and closest ski resort to NYC. The Hunter Mountain website has all the details you need for an amazing ski getaway. Hunter Mountain also includes snow tubing for a fun activity with the family. There are also a number of other resorts close by so you can sample a few locations during your stay. Hiking The Hunter area makes a great home base for hiking the Catskills. The beautiful northern Catskills has the trails and the scenery for any level hiker. Trailheads for hiking, motor cross and ATVs are available just minutes from our home. Two of the best locations for amazing day hikes are: The Kaaterskill falls – this is the tallest two tier waterfall in New York State. The hike is moderate and breathtaking and only 25 mins from our home. North/South Lake – one of our favorite areas to visit is the North South Lake (NSL) area. NSL provides wonderful beaches for swimming, kayaking, incredible and vast network of hiking trails, breathtaking high elevation views, camping, fishing, and much much more. NSL is only 20 min away from our home. Zipline and Canopy Tour New York Zipline Adventure Tours runs the longest and highest Zipline and Canopy Tours in North America at Hunter Mountain! Featuring over 5 miles of ziplines, these exhilarating tours will offer thrill levels from beginner, to moderate, up through the monster summit zip, reaching heights of over 600 feet above the ground. Summer and Fall Festivals For nearly 30 years, Hunter Mountain has been host to numerous summer festivals. From the well-know German Alps Festival and International Celtic Festival to the free Oktoberfests, Microbrew and Wine Festival, TAP New York Craft Beer Festival, Mountain Jam festival, Taste of Country music festival, there is something for every taste. Flyfishing Hunter Mountain is proud to offer its Orvis-Certified Fly Fishing School. Orvis is the world's leader in fly fishing equipment and know-how, with nearly 150 years of experience in the field, and the full-service shop features a great selection of gear, apparel, tackle, flies and tying supplies, and much more. Skyride The Skyride offers breathtaking views of the Catskills during the summer and fall months. Ride the Skyride to the summit of Hunter Mountain and enjoy the panoramic views overlooking the Northern Catskills and beyond. On a clear day, you can see the Green Mountain of Vermont, the Berkshires in Massachusetts and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Golf The legendary beauty of the Catskills makes the perfect backdrop for a round of golf. The mountains offer challenging courses unlike those found in the flatlands, adding another dimension to the game. Come play the beautiful courses of the Catskills, those situated in the mountains and those looking up at the beautiful peaks. Swimming At the entrance of Hunter Mountain, there is a wonderful local swimming spot that is open every day until dusk. There is a full time lifeguard on duty and a nice beach to sit on and bathe in the sun while the kids enjoy jumping off the dock. North South Lake (20 min drive) is also an amazing spot to swim with sandy beaches and mountain views. One of the near by water parks is Zoom Flume. It is about a 40 min drive and a great place to spend the day. You can also find great spa and swimming facilities at the Kaatskill Mountain Club at the resort only 5 minutes away. Dining A short ride to the towns neighboring Hunter offers excellent choices for Dining.
