This 2BR apartment is the entire top floor of an 1870 brick house. Extensively renovated in 2021 - all new kitchen, major updates to the bathroom, new paint, furniture and decor throughout. Directly behind the house is Fishkill Creek and abandoned railway tracks (you can walk to Main St on them in 10 minutes - or walk on the sidewalk if you prefer). It's a perfect space for up to 4 people visiting Beacon and the beautiful Hudson Valley. [LI Zoning: Fully Permitted] This is a 2BR apartment - the entire top floor of an 1870 classic Hudson Valley brick building. I just completed a renovation which includes an entirely new kitchen and many updates to the bathroom, furniture, and decor throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped (full sized stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, etc), a coffee maker with coffee, sugar and creamer, various pots, pans and dishes for cooking. The dining area has a window seat and overlooks Fishkill Creek and Mt Beacon, behind the house. The bathroom is small with a small window overlooking Fishkill Creek and Mt Beacon. The solid wood expandable dining table has a window seat bench and 3 chairs. The living room has two couches, a coffee table, and a brand new 40" Roku TV. The bedrooms are fairly small, each with a full/double bed, night stands and lamps. There is one closet with plenty of hanging space as well as an iron and ironing board. The outdoor space is completely unique for this area and super peaceful. Though the front of the house is on a major street, the back of the house is a Hudson Valley gem. Directly behind the house are abandoned railway tracks (last used in the 1960's). Beyond that is a broad strip of forest next and Beacon's famous Fishkill Creek. On the other side of the creek is more forest with mossy rocks and the ridge of Mt Beacon in the distance. In summer there are views of forest, Fishkill Creek and a bit of Mt Beacon. In the winter, after the leaves have fallen, you get a view of the entire Mt Beacon ridge. Just upstream of my house are some rapids in the creek, which provide a constant backdrop of the sound of running water. Downstream, the creek slows down. About half a mile down (you can walk it on the tracks in about 10 minutes) you get to Beacon's famous waterfall, the Roundhouse, and Main St. Regularly seen wildlife include deer (pretty much every day), ducks, geese, blue heron, hawks, turtles, fish (I wish I knew what kind), raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, beaver (I haven't seen them but I've seen the trees they chew), and a cute chubby groundhog (also seen nearly every day). My favorite is the blue heron, which is a large bird with a long neck and long beak. It glides super gracefully right over the creek, following every bend at about 30 feet up and hardly flapping its wings at all. I had a guest recently who was into birding. She identified many species including Downy Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, White-breasted Nuthatch, Northern Mockingbird, Eastern Bluebird, American Goldfinch, Dark-eyed Junco, Red-winged Blackbird, House Finches, Crows, and Red Tailed Hawks. What is so amazing about the outdoor space is that it's so private and yet so close to the center of town. From the neighborhood and the front of the house, you'd never think of the area for its nature. But once you get to the back you're in a different world - a quiet, creekside nature sanctuary. I have no residential neighbors, so you pretty much have the place to yourself. Because of the value and the location, I tend to be booked fairly solidly. The good news is if you're reading this, it's probably available when you're planning to visit. The entire 2BR apartment is all yours. No other guests have access to any part of it. There are two outdoor spaces: 1) The SIDE YARD. This space is alongside the house with a small seasonal stream running along one side. The side yard will eventually have several seating areas and a roof structure covering part of it. The space is currently under construction (fall 2023). I hope to have some parts of it open by the end of the year. When not under construction, this space is *open to all guests* for FREE. 2) The PATIO. This is a covered structure behind the house overlooking the tracks, creek, and Mt Beacon. The patio has a dining area, a couch seating area and a hot tub. Eventually it will have an outdoor kitchen and shower. This space is available *only by private reservation* at an ADDITIONAL COST. Message me for more info. Please do not access this space unless you have reserved it. Behind the house there are abandoned railway tracks, a small forested wetland, and Fishkill creek. These are all used by the general public - although the location and lack of neighbors makes it nearly private for my guests. There is an electric bike shop (sales and rentals) right next door. Many of my guests rent bikes from them to explore Beacon and the Hudson Valley. I am actively working on various clearing & landscaping projects in the outdoor spaces. At any given time you may see me working or evidence of ongoing work. I'm usually around and working on the house. I love to give recommendations on activities and dining in and around Beacon. Please say hi if you see me or message me any time if you need help. The apartment is a short walk from Main St, but a fairly long walk (or short cab/Uber) from the train station and Dia. This end of town has more shopping, galleries, art studios, the Roundhouse, the waterfall, and more of the beautiful old architecture. It's a great place to be, particularly if you're spending more than an afternoon here in Beacon. The abandoned railroad tracks run right behind the building. You can walk along them to the center of town (Main St, Roundhouse, etc) in about 10 minutes. You can hike in either direction for miles for an adventure along Fishkill Creek. You'll see plenty of nature, abandoned and repurposed industrial sites, secluded areas, and a couple bustling intersections. If you're not into walking on the tracks, you can also get to Main St along Fishkill Ave which has a sidewalk the entire way, once you cross the street. Directly across the street is Memorial Park (a huge park with various sports fields and a dog run). Ron's Ice Cream is the closest shop. It's famous for simple kids food like hamburgers & hot dogs - particularly popular with kids after playing in the park. I am actively clearing and landscaping the outdoor spaces alongside and behind the house. Many of my guests come from New York City, via train. It's possible to walk from the train station, and some people do, but it's pretty long. If you're not feeling up to a 30+ minute walk uphill with your luggage, take a taxi from the train station (usually $6/person) or an Uber/Lyft. Another option is the Beacon Loop bus, which is free. The bus runs every 30 minutes from 6am-9pm. The main stops are the train station, Main St, Dia, and Mt Beacon. To get to my house, take the Loop bus to the corner of Main St and Fishkill Ave, and walk (10-15 min) from there. If you are driving, there is plenty of private, off-street parking in my lot, directly behind the house. This apartment is the entire third floor of the building, which is on a major road. You will hear some amount of road noise from about 8am until 7pm. It's the trade-off of being so close to town. It gets much quieter after about 7pm.
