Tucked away in the heart of Exmoor near Wheddon Cross, Exford Cottage is one of 6 dog friendly holiday cottages converted from traditional Exmoor farm buildings. 10mins walk from Wheddon Cross (pub, shop, and petrol station). It’s the perfect base for couples or friends seeking a truly restorative escape. The space Exford Cottage is a single-storey cottage for 2 guests, with a bedroom and en-suite bathroom. It can be set up as either a twin or a king-size bed - please let us know which you would prefer when booking. Enjoy a complimentary Cream tea on arrival. Exford Cottage boasts both east and west-facing views. It has a reasonably sized fenced garden with shrubs, herb trough (which guests are welcome to use for cooking) and a pretty flower border. There's outdoor seating with views across the gardens and out to our fields. Access to step-free parking is a short walk around the corner. There are two sofas and rustic pine furnishings in the lounge alongside a dining table for two. Come back in from a bracing Exmoor walk and the electric log-effect fire will provide an immediate cosy feel. There are also two radiators. Entertainment is provided by a 25inch TV equipped with Freeview and a DVD player. It has a well-appointed kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer box, kettle and toaster. Yorkshire tea, Nescafe Gold Blend coffee and sugar are provided, alongside a comprehensive collection of china, cookware, and utensils. Guests also get a selection of Pukka herbal teas and half a dozen eggs from our chickens (when laying). For your convenience, we've stocked tea towels, washing up liquid, soap, and surface cleaner. The en-suite bedroom is furnished with comfy beds prepped with fresh cotton linens and duvets for your arrival, along with extra pillows and blankets. There are USB charging sockets (A & C), a mains plug, and reading lights at both side of the bed(s). The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a bath and an overhead shower and supplied with White Company towels and loo rolls. There is also hand soap, moisturiser, shower gel, and shampoo from Tyneham Luxury. The cottage benefits from gas central heating throughout. WiFi is available inside the cottage and in the adjacent barn/games room, and we have recently had superfast Starlink internet access installed. All guests are provided with an online app which gives full information about Little Quarme, optional items that we can provide and recommendations for places to visit, local pubs and restaurants etc. Our nightly price decreases for the longer you stay - Little Quarme Farm is the perfect base to explore all of Exmoor, as well as much of Devon and Somerset, and makes a blissful week or two away to truly unwind. Guest access All guests have access to over two acres of landscaped garden, which has numerous secluded seating areas and a beautiful pond (children must be supervised at all times around the pond). There is also a giant BBQ which guests are welcome to use, and we can supply tinder, charcoal, and BBQ utensils at extra cost. In addition we have eighteen acres of fields - we have goats and chickens roaming in some of them, but guests are welcome to explore - just ask us in advance to we can provide updated information livestock and access. We also have an events barn with comfy sofas, full size ping pong table, along with table football, a mini pool table, and dozens of board games. Occasionally the barn is reserved for private events - we are a licensed wedding venue and also offer catered and uncatered dinner party hire, and daytime hire for corporate and social events. We have a pair of EV Chargers, one tethered, in the upper car park - these supply up to 7.5KW of power and are managed by the Voltshare App. We have two car parks and an overflow parking field - for Exford cottage we recommend guests use the lower car park, unless the EV Chargers are required. Our cottages sit at the head of the Quarme Valley with stunning southerly views across the Exmoor countryside. You will be spoilt for choice with lots of beautiful local walks through woods, open moorland and fields. Views from Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor and just a few miles on foot or by car from Little Quarme) stretch to Dartmoor in the south, Hinkley Point in the east and even the Brecon Beacons in Wales on a very clear day. Dogs are very welcome at Little Quarme- if you have any questions regarding bringing your dogs, please get in touch. We charge £5 per dog per stay and provide a goody box with water bowl, poo bags, treats, toys, towels, furniture blankets, and collar tags with our details. We have two EV chargers, one of which is tethered in case you forget your charging cable. Our Games Barn is normally available to guests - it features table football, pool, ping pong, board games, and a sun deck. It is also available to hire for workshops, dinner parties, anniversaries, and wedding ceremonies. Wheddon Cross is a village in the parish of Cutcombe in the heart of Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and is often referred to as a "carpet of snowdrops"! Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through. Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and various bus services. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops, cafes and restaurants, etc throughout the town.
