Makena's Place Karen - Kichana & Gecko Room
Makena's Place has 3 bedrooms. One double and two single. It comfortably sleeps 4 adults. These rooms are situated in the private guest wing section of Makena's Place. It is NOT separate from the main house. Kichana Room and Gecko Room are the single rooms. Situated in the beautiful suburb of Karen, Makena’s Place is a charming cottage with gorgeous sprawling gardens. The mature trees and flowering bushes are home to several species of birds that can be enjoyed from the comfort of the veranda. Makena’s Place is a boutique home with African themes running throughout the house. You will enjoy the art work and unique touches in the living areas and bedrooms. Makena's Place consists 3 guest rooms: The Flamingo Room - sleeps 2 persons (en suite) $55/night single Occupancy and $70/night double occupancy The Gecko Room - sleeps 1 person $37/night The Kichana Room - sleep 1 person $37/night Gecko and Kichana room share 1 bathroom. *Unless guests booking the single rooms are comfortable sharing a bathroom (traveling together) I only take one single booking at a time so that no guest shares a bathroom with a stranger. If you would like to book either of these rooms separately, please search for them under their respective names. All linen is 100% cotton and pillows and covers are hypoallergenic . All mattresses are high density spring for a comfortable night. Internet (wifi) is available and in keeping with the peace and tranquillity ideal of Makena’s place, there is no television in the house. Makena's Place has two little playful dogs. The dogs do not sleep in the house but they walk through the house freely during the day. They do not sit on any furniture. A sumptuous breakfast is included as well as fruit in season and all day tea and coffee. *Long stays (over 7 days) do not include breakfast after the first night. Your host and her daughter have their bedrooms in a separate wing of the house to ensure maximum privacy for both guests and permanent residents. Common areas - Living, dining & Kitchen are shared. Makena’s Place is a 7 minute walk to the modern Karen shopping centre – historically known as the Karen Dukas - where one can find banks, restaurants, supermarkets and African Curio shops. Only 5 minutes away is the famous Talisman restaurant, situated on the main Ngong Road, which leads to the city of Nairobi. 10min walk away is Nairobi's latest mall - The Hub boasting over 10 restaurants, a myriad of shops and many other services. Karen is home to some of some of Nairobi's best known tourist attractions including the Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum, the animal orphanage and the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary, to name a few. Living area, Kitchen, veranda and garden. It always depends on the work I have for the week. Some weeks may see me working from home most of the day and others I am away from morning to evening. The trees, different bird species, flowers.... nature. Many good restaurants close by. Public transport is 5 min walk away. Uber services are available in Nairobi with an average wait time of 5mins to Makena's Place. I have a house maid who will clean your rooms and bathrooms, make beds and wash up in the kitchen after your breakfast. She will also wash and iron your laundry for a small fee.
