Description
This quintessential adobe New Mexico barn was renovated for an earthy experience. The casita is 1/3 of the full length barn. Accommodates from 2-4 in the heart of the Gila National Forest. Hike, horseback, hunting with your senses, a camera or a gun . . . whatever your pleasure! Very Private! Please be aware that earthen structures have "earthy" experiences like dust; insects at times; and earthy smells. Not likely to be your "cup of tea" if a cobweb is alarming to you. The space The adobe casita is on an 8 acre property. There is a main home which is very separate from the casita. The property is nestled into the lush Largo Canyon valley. But be aware that this is a agricultural property. Horses is the focus. The 8 acres borders the Gila National Forest . . . so hiking and riding your vehicle or animal of choice out the front gate into the Gila comes with the casita experience at "Eagle Peak Lodging". Travel 10 miles up the road from the casita to the top of Eagle Peak Mt. (5,600 ft to 10,500 ft) to the lookout for a jaw dropping experience. From the portal of the casita you will see the resident horses and will no doubt be visited by 2 friendly resident dogs. The owner Bert is the real deal "cowboy" of the past. Don't expect him to be into technology, but he will be very supportive of your lodging needs. Very private. Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts (hikers, horsebackers, hunters) and artists, alike. The casita is two (2) miles from the small town of Reserve, NM. This is in the "Heart of the Gila" national forest where there is 90% public land. Guest access From Hwy 12 (two lane highway) just 2 miles east of the town of Reserve, NM is Forest Service Road 233 headed south. This road is also known as "Eagle Peak Road". Take "Eagle Peak Road" south on the gravel FS 233 for only 1/4 of a mile. You will see the directional sign to "Eagle Peak Lodging". That is the drive way. You will pass thru a gate . . . go straight ahead and then wrap around to the adobe barn / casita. The outside light will be on for you should you arrive in the night. Other things to note The Gila National Forest offers adventures in archeology, hot springs, and and amazing wildlife.
