The entire property is included w/ your cottage rental; 1.1 acres, 800 ft of lake shoreline, a dock, a pier, a sunset deck, a social pavilion, waterfront hot-tub. It is a private lake experience; nothing really compares - unique! The space Holiday Haus - A small cottage with everything you need for a relaxing getaway; ideal for guests who appreciate an active waterfront lifestyle that is environmentally conscious. Preserving a 50-year tradition, this 1970-era retreat tells a story of how lake-cottage-life was once enjoyed on Keowee. This is a "lake-experience" destination, with a 270-degree view of the water; almost any direction you look you will see Keowee because we have 800-feet of shoreline and over an acre of lawn for you to enjoy. This is not a residential in-town neighborhood environment with just a sliver of lake frontage - this is Lake Keowee the way it used to be; the best you can imagine - very vintage! If your focus is on the outdoors, then this is the place for you - this property is all about enjoying Lake Keowee. There is a grilling station with a propane grill & Traeger wood pellet smoker; a social pavilion with TV, refrigerator, island seating, tables and a Breeo-firepit. In addition, there is a sunset deck for evening viewing, a fishing pier for casting, a boat/swimming dock, a waterfront hot-tub and a beach to launch your kayak This is an ideal retreat for the "Kale & Kayaker" type! It is great for swimming, kayaking, SUPs, meditation, reading, writing, recovery, and relaxing. It is ideal for guests that want to spend time outdoors, lawn games, grilling, sun-bathing, swimming, fishing, exercising, yoga, etc. These are all activities that will work well at Pine Island Point and there isn’t a better Sunset on Lake Keowee - you will be totally amazed. The Cottage was updated (4th time) in 2023 with a new kitchen, fresh paint, flooring, furniture, and HVAC. A queen-sized bed for a comfortable nights' rest, living room with couch, recliner chairs, 55” TV etc., plus all the essentials in the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, and shower. It's a small cottage / tiny home and that is why we limit the number of guests. It is a very cool "tiny-cottage" but what makes it unique… is everything else. Our guests tell us it’s the outdoor spaces that makes this place special. Note: This is a very private destination - interaction with neighbors is minimal as the landscaping and spacing between properties provides a large buffer… Close the Gate, turn off your phone, and reset your life at Pine Island Point! Guest access You have exclusive access to the entire property and facilities: the cottage, the sunset deck, the social pavilion, the grilling station, the fishing pier, the hot tub, the swimming dock. Plus, shared access to the island/peninsula beach at the western extension of our property. You may not even bother to visit this shared-access area - but it exists at the SW point of the peninsula and if you do; just know you are in the shared zone. Further explanation: The outer most point of our property connects to a shared narrow strip of land leading to what was once a small island - this is a common-area, you are welcome to use it - however please respect the neighbor’s privacy. The Neighbors do not rent their property, it's their second home and if it is the weekend they will likely be there. Please - No loud music, disturbing activities, campfires, sleeping etc. on the "island" - these activities are not appropriate for a shared space - thank you. You can do as you please on the rest of the property - which is the vast majority of Pine Island Point! If you are there during the week - you will likely be the only ones around as most of our neighbors are "weekenders" - so if you want maximum privacy, tranquility, and exclusivity then weekdays and non-holidays are for you. Early Spring (late march) and early Fall (late September) are also prime time for privacy and can be an awesome time to visit the lake! The check- in time is 3 pm (or later) and the check- out time is noon (12 or earlier - no late checkout will be available unless coordinated in advance). Cottage prep for guests is the easiest part of our job - keeping the property "park-like" is what takes a lot of time and effort to great ready for guests. As you can see from the pictures there is a vast amount of outdoor prep/grooming/get-ready to complete prior to a guest arriving. I want to emphasize that there is no other way to make this work, it takes a lot of time to get ready for your arrival. We want it to be a special experience for you. While we have a high rating we are not professional real estate people - we are the owners of this wonderful place and we enjoy sharing it with others. Nothing is off limit - there is not "lock-out" room - what is here is for you to use and enjoy like you own the place. A note about the rate: We keep the price constant no matter what season as the lake is enjoyable 365 days a year. And please note that you will be paying the same price as every other guest, we do not vary the price for any reason. Note: Starting in 2024 we limited booking for just 2 guests – this is a couple’s get-a-way destination only. Side note - if you have a young child message me - it will be fine. Our target guest is, simply put, "a couple" in whatever form that means to you! We have discovered over the last 8 years that our cottage and property is best utilized as a couple's retreat – a get-a-way for a couple of people. And we only intend to share our cottage - this is not a commercial space nor a rental property. It’s not a business for us - it is our lake cottage and we are willing to share it - maybe 75 to 100 days per year! Unlike a hotel where you are getting a room and a lobby, here you are exclusively renting the entire property and amenities, hence the reason for our policies. Your reservation includes the use of Kayaks, Standup paddle boards and more. Side note: If you were to contact an outdoor sports rental company in our area - you will find that Kayaks are $80 a day - so are SUPs, Floats etc. We have these items here for your use, included. Cleaning: Until recently we did not charge for cleaning as we looked for our guests to tidy up and then we personally (mostly Gail) did the deep clean and prep for the next guest. During the last couple of years the feedback we have received from guests via the review process is they don't want to spend precious lake time cleaning up. So, we are now charging and all we ask is you put your trash in the outside can and the towels in the bathroom. Again, Pine Island Point is not a rental property per se, but "our cottage" that we love and enjoy sharing via Airbnb. Rental is not our principal purpose, and the revenue is not necessary. We return 100% of the Airbnb funds to annual property improvements - not to pay for the property. Rental fees are going to improvements for everyone to enjoy. We share via Airbnb exclusively and do so approx. 100 days per year. Making your decision: A point of reference, large homes in this area on smaller lots with limited shoreline, rent for $7500 per week. There you typically get the use of a really nice house, but their property and lake frontage does not compare. Pine Island Point is a unique lake experience; so, if like privacy and you are seeking "lake-time" - this could be the place for you. Another thing: All our pictures on Airbnb are the real thing, taken with an iPhone without any filters or photo-shopping, no professional photos - what you see in the pictures is what you will experience. Other property listings show various areas of the lake and imply it is part of their property or view which is hardly the case. Here you get what you see - great mornings, great sunsets, great night skies! All the pictures are of this property and areas you will have complete access to. There is a wooden farm style fence that outlines the property making it easy to see the property boundaries (and we own the fence). There will be no visitors and no disruptions to your relaxation - the property is turned over to you after the orientation walk for your private enjoyment. Other things to note: Usage: This is not a fishing destination, and we do not rent to tournament fishermen; similarly, we do not rent our dock for your boat. A new dock with a boat lift is a $75,000 investment and must be cared for and operated safely. If you rent a boat for the day – you are welcome to tie it up along the dock’s platform side. The water can be rough when the surfboats are out so, please be careful and tie your boat properly. Hosting: If you have friends or family in the area, you are welcome to have them over for a cookout or day of swimming – just let me know the details and remember this is not exception that affords you the option to throw a party or have an event at our place. If you have family nearby, we want you to invite them over to enjoy your rental. Parking is limited and restricted to the gravel driveway - no parking on the grass. Five (5) cars fills up the parking area, and there is no space for an RV or camper. If you have any questions about this, please message me. Exclusive! Private! Gated! Unique! Special! Other things to note Clarification: Over time we have realized that our cottage has its limitations, it's not for everyone. It is, however, ideal for a couple's retreat. One couple getting away with one another. In certain cases, we can accommodate one young child utilizing the "murphy-bed” for sleeping arrangements; However, it becomes too crowded with teenagers and anyone else beyond a small child. Pine Island Point can be an exceptional destination for a wellness week. If you are recovering from surgery or want to kick off a physical or emotional plan for your life - this is an ideal location. It is also a terrific location to use as a base to explore the upstate of South Carolina, NE Georgia, and Western North Carolina. There are many great hikes nearby, biking is popular here too; and The Blue Ridge Parkway, Tail of the Dragon for motor-sports enthusiasts is exceptional. In the fall, apple-picking at Sky Top Orchards, or shopping in Historic Highlands NC makes for an exceptional day. Within 12 miles you can start up the mountains on highway 107 and 30 minutes later be in higher elevations enjoying mountain vistas. Whether you are relaxing on the sundeck or taking your convertible for a ride through the mountains – you can do it all from Pine Island Point. As for weather information, we have lots of sunshine, nice breezes, and cool nights. Summer highs in the 80s & 90s with a 15-to-20-degree night-time drop in temperatures. I enjoy the lake year-round, but it is certainly nicest starting in March... one of our favorite periods is “Masters Golf Tournament Week” mid-April. Then again late September and early October are fantastic, too. As far as bringing a boat: rental boats are available nearby at Sunset Marina - again it’s not what our place is about. The dock is there for you to enjoy the water; swim, kayak, float, relax etc. but I do not offer the property for motor-boating nor campers (RVs). However, if you rent a boat and want to “tie-up” for the afternoon – just let me know. Damage to my dock is my only concern; so, I like to know if there is going to be a boat at my dock. As you can tell, I really do not want the wear and tear on my dock or docking damage. This policy is a result of an unpleasant experience. Kayaking, SUPs, swimming, fishing and relaxing are ideal for our venue - you can't find a better place to do that! While we were pet friendly because we love animals, we are no longer accepting reservations with pets. Over 50% of our guests do not have pets and a percentage of them are allergic to them so starting in summer 2023 we decided no more pets. We are sorry about this policy change. About the Island: the property extension/The Peninsula- the "island" is jointly accessed via our property and our next-door neighbors. The island is a shared area used by both families. The neighbors, who are mostly there on the weekends do have multiple dogs and sometimes they are on the island. If you are anti-dog or afraid of dogs - please note this message and do not book our property as I do not want any problems related to this. Typically, this isn't an issue, but if need be, you can ask the neighbors to call their pets home or call Pickens County animal control. This would be a rare situation, but the island is common ground. Please put your trash, and all other garbage in trash bags, tie them and place them in the garbage can (located by the gate next to the fence). No loose trash in the trash can, please. The county does not offer trash pickup for this location, so we must haul it off! If for privacy reasons you want to take your trash to the county convenience center it is located about 3 miles away: 127 Willow Springs Road at 864 and 868.7853. Many people want to protect their privacy, so they haul it off themselves. GEESE: Periodically we have geese visit the property. Geese are unwanted guests; however, I discourage throwing rocks at them, as it is unnecessarily mean. Just walk towards them and they will get back in the water and go elsewhere. Minimum stay. We are not offering a hotel room alternative - we are offering a special lake destination. Maximum stay is 45 days and includes specials. This is our favorite place to getaway too; so, sharing it is okay but surrendering it to someone for an extended period would steal precious time from us. EV Charging station - if you drive a Tesla or other EV you can plug right up during your stay. All of this sounds like a lot to think about. It is a special place, and I can almost guarantee that you will have an incredible time. The reviews are a rather good indication that every guest visiting our cottage has a wonderful experience. Amenities: ~Big Outdoor Spaces ~Sunset Deck ~Wet Deck ~Outdoor Steps with a Lake Shower ~Boat/Swimming Dock ~Beach ~ Free use of Kayaks and Stand up Paddle Boards ~Undeveloped Island for Nature Lovers ~Social Pavilion with Amenities ~Fishing Pier ~Grilling Station with Grill & Smoker ~Waterside Patio with Hot Tub and Fireplace ~Nice Turf ~Remodeled Cottage ~Fast Internet Restrictions: NO PETS 2 Adults Only (one young child, possibly...and is free) Length of Stays - minimum to 45 max NO RVs, NO Boats NO Group Events Limited Parking I say all the above because I want to be realistic and create the right expectations on your part. I have found that by over emphasizing this information & description, I am able to match up correctly with guest expectations. Plus, equipped with this information you can better pick the Airbnb property that suits your plans! Pine Island Point is a really fun place for the right guests and that is typically an individual, a couple or a small family wanting to relax at the lake. I said fun place because, really... read the reviews guests say it is an incredible place! If you are looking for indoor amenities, luxury accommodations or a boating venue this is not the property for you. This is a basic one-bedroom, one-bath cottage, a vintage lake retreat and a tiny-house experience all in one! If you are more interested in counting shooting stars vs counting comforter-thread-count... this is the place for you! Given it is a 1970-era cottage you should note that the ceilings are lower than modern houses and the hallway is narrow. Tall people or plus-sized guests might find the cottage a little uncomfortable. This is direct feedback from guests who have suggested that I make this point here in the description - "Tiny House means tighter fit." Hence one of the reasons why we restrict the number of guests. Hope to see you at Pine Island Point!
