Country cottage in beautiful historic village
Description
Cherry Tree Cottage is a lovely Grade II listed country home in the heart of the tranquil village of Eydon. Overlooking the green & its own private garden, the cottage is a peaceful rural retreat for couples, families & friends (& the perfect base for study, work or business trips). Eydon is surrounded by gorgeous rolling countryside: there are beautiful walks direct from the cottage, friendly locals and plenty of interesting places to visit year round. The space The comfortable living room has a large corner sofa & fireplace with wood-burner to keep you warm on winter evenings. There is underfloor heating which extends into the spacious conservatory cum dining room. A self-contained study comes with laptop-friendly desk & ergonomic chair for work, study or gaming. Three upstairs bedrooms are served by a shared bathroom with shower. Access is an oak staircase (please note this has open treads - there is no stair gate so take care and keep a watchful eye on children). There is central heating throughout, plus extra plug-in electric oil heaters for use if needed. The traditional stone cottage dates back to the 1700s. It has relatively low ceilings & doorways with floors at different levels so care needs to be taken when moving around. A more recent addition is the light, spacious conservatory which is perfect for dining, relaxing and stargazing. Outside there's a small private front garden with lawn space to sit shaded by an old apple tree & a magnificent cherry tree. Please note there are stone steps from the entrance gate and from the conservatory to a sunny patio at the back (which can become slippery when wet). Guest access Cherry Tree Cottage & its front garden and rear patio are all for the exclusive use of guests. Peaceful Eydon is surrounded by open countryside and has spectacular views. Guests and their four-legged friends can enjoy exploring via the plentiful public footpaths and bridleways leading from the village. There are rural walks for all seasons direct from the cottage. You'll need a car to get around (there's free undesignated street parking outside the property). Other things to note There's a pop-up farm shop selling local produce & a wine shop (Oboe Wines) on Eydon High Street. Within walking distance is Harley Equestrian Shop & Cafe (1.2 miles) which has an eclectic boutique & welcomes dogs. A well-stocked mobile shop visits Eydon every Wednesday. In neighbouring Culworth there's The Forge Cafe & The Barn deli; and there are Coop supermarkets at neighbouring Woodford Halse (1.5 miles), & Byfield (approx 2 miles) where the nearest petrol station is located.
