We like to be there to greet you when you arrive and say goodbye when you leave. In between, we will interact as little or as much as you like. Being on-site allows us to answer any of your questions or resolve any concerns you may have. Other things to note !!!!!Please read this section very carefully!!!!!! We have enjoyed many fabulous guest experiences and they have provided lovely reviews. We have also had some dissatisfied guests and in all cases, it was that our guests and our cottage situation and amenities were not suited to each other. For this reason, we did not meet our guest's expectations. We have in the past allowed guests to automatically book without any interaction with us. We will no longer be doing this. We would like to be able to get to know your needs before you book. We want to ensure that when you arrive you will know exactly what to expect. Carefully review our many pictures to get a good idea of our house and property. Please be aware that we live in WILD MUSKOKA. We live in the woods beside a river and a waterfall. This provides many perks for our guests but can also come with some drawbacks, particularly when it comes to very young children, those with mobility problems or some pets. Our house is on three levels. The kitchen and eating area on the ground level, the living area and one bedroom on the first level and the master bedroom and bathroom on the second level. Access between them is by a spiral staircase. The ground level is a walkout, but first level access is via a staircase. Getting from the parking area to the house is along a flagstone walkway that includes a number of steps. Also, access to the dock and waterfront requires descending some more steps. As you can see this is not ideal to those with mobility problems, so please be aware. Jane and I, as we get older are starting to experience this ourselves. Living in the woods, we have critters! You may see deer, moose, foxes and other four-legged animals. We have turtles, non-poisonous snakes and a lot of frogs. We also have red squirrels, chipmunks, mice and bats. These little creatures are fine outside but can sometimes get inside if doors are left open. They are not dangerous, but If you do have a problem, we will come to the rescue. lf seeing a mouse in the house would cause you to jump on a chair, perhaps we are not for you. We do have insects. Blackflies can be a nuisance early in the summer. Mosquitos abate as the summer progresses. You can still have an enjoyable time if you are prepared. Bug jackets, hats and repellents can save the day. This is all part of living or visiting Muskoka. We have a very comfortable screened Muskoka room and this year we are providing a screened garden gazebo and screened hot tub. We are also doing our best to discourage insects in an environmentally friendly way. Our waterfront is our pride and joy. The falls and river are beautiful and most of our guests find the sound soothing. We have a dock for swimming and fishing. We are enlarging the dock this year to increase stability and fun. Water levels will fluctuate depending on rainfall, but we have safe swimming from the dock.
