In the summer, you can enjoy a swim in the lake before breakfast, if you wish. The premises by the lake are only a stone’s throw away from the world-famous Glienicke Bridge. It connects Potsdam with Berlin, and for decades during the Cold War, the bridge was the place where spies were exchanged. Two years ago, star director Steven Spielberg shot his movie “Bridge of Spies” with Tom Hanks here. Just a few minutes on foot along the Jungfernsee shore, you will find the New Garden park. Prussian Prince Friedrich Wilhelm II had his summer residence built here from 1787-1793 – the beautiful Marble Palace. Hohenzollern Emperor Wilhelm II had his last castle, Cecilienhof Palace, built here from 1913-1917. History was made at this site in 1945, when Stalin, Churchill, and Truman divided Germany at the Potsdam Conference. The house’s cozy 90 square metres comprise two floors. The entrance area of this exclusive holiday home leads to the light-flooded living room with its working fireplace. The stone and wood antique floor (with under-floor heating), tiles, wood-panelled walls and carefully chosen furniture of this room are the result of a love for detail. In winter, you can warm yourself in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine. At the desk, you can write a postcard to your loved ones, you can watch cable TV on two flat screen TVs, listen to your favourite music on the Bang & Olufsen stereo, or surf the internet via Wi-Fi while lying comfortably on the sofa. Next to the living room is the open plan kitchen. It is equipped with an attractive dining table (for 8 people) and ultra-modern devices – from an American Smeg fridge to a safe gas cooker, to a Nespresso coffee machine and a dishwasher. The antique spiral staircase leads to the top floor where you will find a cozy bedroom with a free-standing bathtub – the perfect combination of high-end hideaway and wonderfully comfortable hotel room.
